HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-13-1999 Session . . . 5f)5 MINUTES HILLSBOROUGH TOWN BOARD February 13, 1999 8:00 AM., Hillsborough Police Department Training Room The Hillsborough Town Board held their annual goal setting retreat Saturday, February 13, 1998 at 8:30 AM. in the Police Training Room of the Hillsborough Police Department. Present for the Board Retreat were Mayor Horace Johnson, Commissioners Kenneth Chavious, Richard Simpson, Frances Dancy, Catherine Martin and Evelyn Lloyd (who arrived after Lunch). Staff present were Town Manager Eric Peterson, Town Clerk Donna Armbrister, and Finance Director Sherry Carter. Other Department Heads present were Planning Director Margaret Hauth, Public Works Director Champion, Fleet Supervisor/Mechanic John Cook, Town Engineer Kenneth Keel and Police Chief Nathaniel Eubanks. Mayor Johnson called the meeting to order at 8:40 AM. Town Manager Eric Peterson reviewed the guidelines for the meeting. The Board discussed various budget issues. Finance Director Sherry Carter brought to the Board's attention a need for a revision to the Prepared Food and Beverage Tax Law. After review of the draft amendment and upon a motion by Commissioner Chavious, seconded by Commissioner Dancy, the Board authorized the Mayor to contact our delegate to introduce the bill before the General Assembly by a vote of 4-0. The motion was declared passed. Police Chief Nathaniel Eubanks informed the Board of the proposed joint firing range effort between Hillsborough, Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and Orange County for their consideration. By consensus, the Board authorized the Town Manager to write a letter to Orange County expressing interest in participation.
