No. _ 14 -43 — Date of Adoption Februar 20 2014 AWARDING BID FOR 2014 ROAD Ii IPROVENEENT PROGRAM PROJECT PHASE I -A WHEREAS, the Borough has publicly advertised for the receipt of bids for the 2014 Road Improvement Program Project, Phase 1 -A; and WHEREAS, the Borough has solicited and received four (4) bid proposals for the 2014 Road Improvement Program Project, Phase 1 -A as follows: Total Bids w /Alts. I & 2 1. S. Brothers General Contractors $ 1,490,806.42 2. Black Rock Construction $ 1,639,603.07 3. Lucas Brothers $1,644,177.40 4. Top Line Construction $ 1,801,976.88 WHEREAS, S. Brothers General Contractors has submitted the lowest bid for said contract as evidenced by the response on file with the Borough's Purchasing Department and with the Borough Engineer; and WHEREAS, the Borough Engineer has reviewed the above bid proposals and has recommended the award of a contract to S. Brothers, in a total amount not to exceed $1,490,806.42; and WHEREAS, the Chief Financial Officer has certified that funds are or will be available for said purpose. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret as follows: 1. That the appropriate Borough officials are hereby authorized to enter into a contract with S. Brothers General Contractors, South River, NJ for the 2014 Road Improvement Program Project, Phase I -A.in the amount of $1,490,806.42 in accordance with all respects with the request for proposals and bid on smite. 2. That a copy of this Resolution shall be forwarded to the Borough's Purchasing Department and Borough Engineer. Brothers General Contractors, of P.O. Box 317, South River, New Jersey 08882. S. Brothers has provided a base bid amount of $1,516,726.42. Further, S. Brothers is the lowest bidder if the alternate bid items are awarded. S. Brothers has worked on numerous road improvement projects for the Borough within the past several years and their work has been satisfactory. We have reviewed all the bid documents and find that all required forms and documents have been provided by S. Brothers. As requested, Alternate bids (Add Alternate 1 and Deduct Alternate 2) were taken for installing new granite curb rather than concrete curb on Lowell Street. Based on their low bid and satisfactory past performance, it is recommended the Borough award a contract to S. Brothers, Inc for the 2014 Road Improvement Program "Pant A" project for a total amount of $1,490,806.42 (Base Bid plus Alternates 1 -2).
