Dear Mr Ryan: This Letter of Permission (LOP) is in response to your request dated August 6, 2012 to sponsor the 2012 Surfers for Autism event on the beach seaward of 16th Street and Strand Avenue, Tybee Island, Georgia. Surfers for Autism will provide special needs children an opportunity to surf and socialize with other surfers and their family members. Your request includes the placement of a sixteen (16) 10' X 10' tents and five (5) 20'X 20' tents, all of which will be placed on the dry sand beach located seaward of 16th and Strand and approximately 100 feet south of the pier & pavilion. The event will be set up Saturday, September 8 and removed Saturday, September 8, 2012. All activities proposed in association with Surfers for Autism will occur seaward of the sand dunes. No impacts to the sand sharing system are proposed and access to the beach is available to the public at existing crossovers along the strand. The Department authorizes the placement of amenities as identified in 2012 Surfers for Autism Site Plan (attached). No heavy equipment or vehicles are allowed on the beach in connection with this project. All construction and lighting must comply with Department of Natural Resources Sea Turtle Guidelines. This Letter of Permission is not meant to exempt the above referenced activity from future environmental laws. This project must comply with all other Federal, State, and local statutes, ordinances and regulations.
