Mee Jr. Superintendent Please see information below regarding current and planned construction projects for this season, please feel free to distribute to interested parties: 2017 Projects Edenfield Ave. —work is anticipated to begin this week to complete the project, including final installation of green infrastructure, plantings, top course paving, signage, and striping. A "punch list" of defective or unaccepted work is developed to complete the project. 2017 Roadway Reconstruction —all work is complete on Irma Ave., Waltham Street, Cushman Street, Knowles Road, Holly Street, and Whitcomb Street except minor items such as loam/seed, signage and striping. A "punch list" of defective or unaccepted work is developed to complete the project. 2017 Sewer and Drain Repairs —Sewer and drain repairs on Maplewood Street, between School Street and Commonwealth Road will be completed this summer. 2018 Construction Projects 2018 Roadway Reconstruction —a bid opening date of May 3rd for this project to reconstruct Edgecliff Road (Templeton to Hillside), Woodleigh Road, Westland Road, Malden Street, Everett Avenue (Bartlett St. to Palfrey St.) and complete reconstruction of Priest Road and Arden Road. 2018 Water Main Replacement Program —finalizing plans for a May 17t" bid date for replacement of water mains on Hunt Street, Phillips Street, Charles River Road (Wheeler Lane to Priest Road), and Wheeler Lane. Common Street Reconstruction —a bid opening date of April 26 for this project to reconstruct Common Street between Mt. Auburn St. and Orchard St., install roundabout at Orchard Street, signalize the intersection of Common Street and Spring Street, reconstruct a portion of Columbia Street including a raised table at Robbins Road, upgrade water main and reconstruct Katherine Road from Common Street to Church Street, and reconstruct Orchard Street Extension. 2018 Sewer Projects: 2018 sewer investigations at various locations, including television inspection of sanitary sewer pipes began in March and will continue through May. Bids were opened for the 2018 sanitary sewer improvement project, including trenchless lining of sewer mains and spot repairs, on April 12, and are being reviewed. K:IWEBOennis Uploads12018 Construction Season Information.doc Annual contracts —bid opening dates in mid- to late -May for our annual reconstruction projects, including mill and overlay, sidewalk repair, catch basin cleaning, drainage rebuild, permanent patch, and traffic signal maintenance. MassDOT Construction Projects "Bump -out" at the Library/Post Office Crosswalk and installation of Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon at Pleasant Street and Howard Street —the project has been awarded by MassDOT; work anticipated for late spring. Hosmer Safe Routes to School Project —the project has been awarded by MassDOT, but we do not have a start date yet. Developer -Mitigation Projects Athena/Arsenal Street work to complete the signalization project between School Street and Louise Street to recommence later this month. A "punch list" of defective or unaccepted work will be developed to complete the project. Greystar/Arsenal Street work (complete community path extension and frontage work to Irving Street) is to be scheduled. Utility Company Projects Eversource work on Louise Street —anticipated to start later this month. National Grid —installation of the coated steel gas main on Lexington Street continuing towards Orchard Street began last week and is scheduled to take the remainder of the season. Work on various other streets to be scheduled as part of National Grid's annual replacement program. Project Development • Mount Auburn Street Complete Streets Project —updated concept plans to be presented at the May 14t" Open House at the Hosmer School, 4 PM — 7 PM. • Watertown -Cambridge Mount Auburn Street Bus Pilot Project —informational meeting scheduled for May 1 st at the Tufts Administration Building, 705 Mt. Auburn Street, 6.30 PM. Rollout anticipated in June. • Watertown Square —data collection and analysis to evaluate traffic patterns in the study area are ongoing. We anticipate scheduling a follow-up meeting in June to update the public. • Complete Streets Prioritization Plan —the plan was submitted to MassDOT and we are working though their comments. We expect the plan to be accepted and to apply for Tier 3 competitive funding for Whites Ave. Linear Park Crossing, Theurer Park at Watertown Street crossing, and Warren Street at Cunniff School crossing.
