HomeMy Public PortalAbout2012.137 (07-03-12)RESOLUTION NO. 2012.137 A RESOLUTION OF THE LYNWOOD CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING CITY STAFF TO RELEASE A REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS AS APPROVED TO FORM BY THE CITY ATTORNEY TO QUALIFIED VENDORS TO PROVIDE MEAL SERVICES FOR THE CITY'S SENIOR NUTRITION PROGRAM WHEREAS, the City uses, and has been since the inception of the Senior Nutrition Program, County- approved vendors that receive Older Americans Act Grant Fund subsidies for the operation of senior citizens nutrition programs; and WHEREAS, the City has consistently offered its senior citizens a multi- faceted nutrition program consisting of congregate meals, home delivered, and social services to homebound seniors; and WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood desires to continue to offer a Senior Nutrition Program to senior citizens sixty (60) years of age and older; and WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood desires to have qualified vendors bid for the opportunity to provide congregate meals and home - delivered meals for the Senior Nutrition Program; and WHEREAS, on December 5, 2006 the City Council approved an agreement with Human Services Association (HSA) for the provision of congregate meals and home - delivered meals services; and WHEREAS, the initial term of this agreement was for a three -year period from January 1, 2007 to December 30, 2009; and WHEREAS, on September 21, 2010 the City Council authorized staff to issue an RFP and approved to allow HSA to operate on a month -to -month basis until a Request for Proposals process is completed; and WHEREAS, Due to low a response to the City's RFP in 2010, the City Council requested staff to reissue the RFP; and WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood purchasing guidelines require that a formal Request For Proposals is issued for purchases in excess of $15,000. NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES HEREBY FIND, ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That City staff is authorized to solicit bids for Senior Nutrition Program from qualified vendors through a Request for Proposals (RFP). Section 2. This Resolution shall become effective immediately upon its adoption. PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 3` day of July, 2012.
