A RESOLUTION ADOPTING CHANGES IN THE CITY OF MOAB SEWER RATE
STRUCTURE
WHEREAS, the City of Moab has an agreement with Spanish Valley Water and Sewer
Improvement District (District) that provides for the treatment of sewage at the City -
owned Wastewater Treatment Plan for all Spanish Valley Water and Sewer Improvement
District customers; and
WHEREAS, said agreement provides that the City will charge the District on a per-
connection/hook-up basis for sewer customers within the District, to pay for costs
associated with the treatment of sewage received from District customers; and
WHEREAS, the Grand Water and Sewer Service Agency was created in 1998, and
assumed the administrative and other responsibilities of the District; and
WHEREAS, the City, in communication and cooperation with the Agency, has been
planning for upgrades to the existing Wastewater Treatment Plant; and
WHEREAS, in order to pay for the costs associated with upgrading the Wastewater
Treatment Plant, the City will need to increase sewer rates for all sewer users; and
WHEREAS, the City of Moab recently increased its residential and commercial sewer
rates for all City of Moab sewer customers; and
WHEREAS, rates charged to the Grand Water and Sewer Service Agency for
connections to the sewer system should be increased accordingly.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Moab City Council adopts following rate
structure for sewer connections for customers within the Grand Water and Sewer Service
Agency, effective September 1, 2013.
