AN ORDIUANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 1472-1953, COMMONLY I09dN AS THE ZONING
ORDINANCE OF RIOHMO'M, INDIANAs AP RO17ED APRIL A., 1953.
BE ITI ORDAINED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RIrHMOND, INDIANA AS FOLLaISo
SECTION L Ordinance Alo. 1472-1953s Article `7. Section 2 is hereby ammended by
adding thereto the following. -
Section 2. Extension
The Board. of Zoning Appeals may perinit the alteration or enlar°gemer7t
of an existing building or use located on promises in a district which
orohibits the use of land or buildings and the height and area of
buildings existing at tha tine this ordinance was adooted. Such alter-
ation or enlargement shall only be nermitted where it is a necessary
incident to the use of the structure existing at the time of adoption,
amendment or change of this ordinance, provided however, that such
alteration or enlargement shall in no cage be esrbended more than twenty
(20) Feet from the structure existing at -di a time of sdontion or amend-
mant of this ordinance. S uch alteration or enlargement may be r2r;nitted
in any direction, h(riever not more than one (1.) alteration or enlargement
will be xmrmitted in any five (5) year period,,
Alterations or enlargements of buildings housing non -conforming uses

The Richmond City Plan Commission hereby petitions the Common Council
of the City of Richmond, Indiana for an amendment to ordinance 1472-
1953 (Zoning Ordinance). The Plan Commission, after having given notice
as required by law and having held a public hearing thereon, petitions
said Common Council to amend Article V, Section 2 of said Zoning Ordi-
nance to the following:
Section 2. Extension.
The Board of Zoning Appeals may permit the alteration or enlargement of
an existing building or use located on premises in a district which pro-
hibits the use of land or buildings and the height and area of buildings
existing at the time this ordinance was adopted. Such alteration or en-
largement shall only be permitted where it is a necessary incident to
the use of the structure existing at the time of adoption, amendment or
change of this ordinance, provided however, that such alteration or en-
largement shall in no case be extended more than twenty (20) feet from
the structure existing at the time of adoption or amendment of this ord-
inance. Such alteration or enlargement may be permitted in any direction,
however not more than one (1) alteration or enlargement trill be permitted
in any five (5) year period.
