A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA, IN SUPPORT OF
AND REQUESTING MIAMI-DADE COUNTY TO
IMPLEMENT ADAPTIVE TRAFFIC SIGNAL CONTROL
TECHNOLOGIES, AND INCLUDE THE VILLAGE IN ANY
PILOT PROGRAMS FOR SUCH TECHNOLOGIES;
PROVIDING FOR TRANSMITTAL; DIRECTING THE
VILLAGE MANAGER AND OFFICIALS TO TAKE ALL
ACTION NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT THE USE OF
ADAPTIVE TRAFFIC SIGNAL CONTROL TECHNOLOGIES
WITHIN THE VILLAGE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
EN'N'LCTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Village of Key Biscayne ("Village") desires to further improve the safety
and efficiency of traffic control on its roads by employing the best available technologies; and
WHEREAS, traffic control and traffic engineering services in Miami -Dade County are under
the jurisdiction of the Department of Public Works and Waste Management, Traffic Signals and
Signs Division ("County"); and
WHEREAS, the County is working towards improving and overhauling its traffic
signalization through the use of innovative adaptive traffic signal control technologies; and
WHEREAS, the Village supports such adaptive traffic signal control technologies to
enhance traffic safety and efficiency on its roads and requests inclusion and participation in any pilot
programs implementing such technologies;
WHEREAS, the Village Council wishes to authorize the Village Manager and officials to take all
action necessary to support and implement such adaptive traffic signal control technologies and
programs within the Village; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council finds that this Resolution is in the best interest and welfare
of the Village and its residents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF KEY
BISCAYNE, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Recitals Adopted. That each of the above -stated recitals is hereby adopted
and confirmed.
Section 2. Call to Action. That the Village Council hereby supports and
encourages Miami -Dade County to implement adaptive traffic signal control technologies and
requests inclusion in any pilot programs for the implementation of such technologies.
Section 3. Transmittal. The Village Clerk is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this
Resolution to the Mayor of Miami -Dade County in support of and requesting Village inclusion in
any adaptive traffic signal control technologies programs.
Section 4. Village Manager Authorized; Implementation. That the Village Manager
is hereby authorized to take any action which is necessary to support and implement the use of
adaptive traffic signal control technologies within the Village and the purposes of his Resolution.
Section 5. Effective Date. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
adoption hereof.
