Driscoll, Town Manager may' d Date: August 4, 2016 RE: Agenda Item—Acceptance of Gift of Tangible Personal Property I am pleased to inform you that the Watertown Men's Summer Basketball League as well as family and friends of David Timperio and Kenny Vincent have made donations to support the purchase and installation of a granite bench, additional pavers and plantings. As indicated in the attached correspondence, the granite bench and the corresponding dedication ceremony and celebration will pay tribute to these long time members of the Watertown Men's Summer Basketball League, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. The bench and the additional pavers along with the plantings will be located at Saltonstall Park. Pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 44, Section 53A1/2,municipalities are authorized to accept gifts of tangible personal property with the approval of the Town Council. I respectfully request the attached Resolution accepting these gifts of tangible personal property be placed on the August 9, 2016 Town Council Agenda for your consideration. Resolution# R—2016 - Resolution Approving the Acceptance of Gift of Tangible Personal Property WHEREAS: from time to time, this community is the beneficiary of a gift donated towards improving the quality and spirit of its inhabitants lives; and WHEREAS: members of the Watertown Men's Sumner Basketball League as well as family and friends would like to pay tribute to David Timperio and Kenny Vincent; and WHEREAS: donations have been made to support the purchase and installation of a granite bench, additional pavers and plantings at Saltonstall Park; and WHEREAS: the granite bench and corresponding dedication ceremony and celebration will pay tribute to these gentlemen; and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: that the Town Council of the City known as the Town of Watertown, hereby accepts, pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 44, Section 53A1/2, these gifts of tangible personal property. David and Kenny were long time members of the Watertown Men's Summer Basketball League, were competitive athletes, well respected and well liked. Unfortunately, both passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. The granite bench and the corresponding dedication ceremony and celebration will pay tribute to these gentlemen and hopefully ease the pain of their loss for their families and friends. We are very grateful to Watertown Landscaping for the design, purchase and installation of this area. It is beautiful, functional and will create a lasting memory of lives well lived. The total value of the donated amount which includes the purchase of the granite bench, engraving, pavers, plantings and labor is approximately $5000.00.
