NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION
DUFF STREET, GRANT AVENUE, PIERCE ROAD
GAS MAIN INSTALLATION
March 4, 2020
Dear Duff Street, Grant Avenue & Pierce Road Abutter:
The Watertown Department of Public Works announces that National Grid will be starting
construction to install a new plastic gas main along Duff Street, Grant Avenue(Duff St to
Lexington St) and Pierce Road (Grant Ave. to Dead End) in order to replace an aged gas
main.
You are receiving this notice since you are an immediate abutter to the project area. The
project will include construction activities such as excavation and backfilling, paving, services
renewals, restoration of disturbed surface areas, traffic control, and site clean up.
Contractors will be performing the work on behalf of National Grid. Feeney Brothers
Excavation Corporation of Boston, MA will be responsible for excavation, backfilling and
restoration.
Work to begin on Monday March 9, 2020 and is anticipated to be completed on August 31st
Final cleanup and trench restoration activities will be necessary.
Work hours will generally be between 7:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday through Friday, with the
potential for Saturday work. There may be dust and/or noise generated by the work and minor
traffic / detour inconveniences. Existing gas services will be disrupted when new installations /
connections to the new gas main must be made.
