HomeMy Public PortalAboutResolution 91-1621 PC" " " RESOLUTION NO. 91- 1621PC A RESOLUTION OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY AMENDING THE ZONING CODE TO REQUIRE 10% RATHER THAN 2% OF A NEW PARKING AREA BE IMPROVED WITH LANDSCAPING The Planning Commission of the City of Temple City does hereby resolve: Section 1. Based upon a public hearing to consider an amendment to the Zoning Code, the Planning Commission finds: 1. That the subject Zoning Code amendment is necessary to mitigate the impact of new parking areas in the City; and 2. That establishing a more stringent landscaping requirement will provide a substantial buffer of parking areas; and 3. That the subject Zoning Code amendment will establish a criteria which matches the standards for mini -mall de- sign. Section 2. This project should result in no significant effects upon the environment and a Negative Declaration has been prepared in accordance with the State CEQA Guidelines. The initial statement as prepared indicates there is no potential for adverse impact to the environment as it relates to all wild animals, birds, plants, fish, amphibians, and related ecologi- cal communities, including the habitat upon which the wildlife depends for its continued viability. Section 3. The Planning Commission recommends that Sec- tion 9297 of the Temple City Zoning Code be amended as follows: 9297. LANDSCAPING INTERIOR OF PARKING AREA. A. Where mere -then- twenty- +E0 +- ettemeb +le- perk4ng- speees em4st an open parking area is hereafter established or re- established or reconstructed on a lot or parcel of land, not less than twe +R+ ten (10) per cent of the gross area utilized to for such parking shall be devoted to interior landscaping. Section 4. The Secretary shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
