RESOLUTION OPPOSING A- 3118,RF,QUHMG -
ESTABLISBMENT AND IYIPLENIE,NTATION OF MODEL WILDLIFE
MANAGEMENT PJ ANS
WHEREAS, A -3118 directs the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the
State Agricultural Committee (SADC) to adopt model wildlife management plans for use by local
public entities owning dedicated open space; and
WHEREAS, this bill also directs the adoption of model wildlife management plans for use by
local public utilities seeking fiords to acquire and preserve farmlands; and
WHEREAS, this bill requires that those seeking funds must select one of the model plans for
each parcel of land owned by that public entity which was acquired or developed using Green
Acres Bond Act money or constitutionally dedicated funds; and
WHEREAS, present law does not require the establishment of a wildlife plan for publicly owned
space or farmland; and
WHEREAS, A -3118 would allow the State and local public entities to implement wildlife
management plans on lands purchased, developed or preserved with public finds; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Mayor and Council of the Borough of
Carteret strongly oppose A -3118; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Governor of
the State of New Jersey, Senator Joseph Vitale and Assemblymen John Wisniewski mid Craig
Coughlin, Assemblyman Vincent Tvb ueo and the New Jersey State League of Municipalities.
