HomeMy Public PortalAboutHancock, Chauncey and Boylston Street, Replacement of Miscellaneous Water Services and Hydrants (PDF)TOWN OF WATERTOWN DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS 124 ORCHARD STREET WATERTOWN, MASSACHUSETTS 02472 Tel: 617-972-6420 Fax: 617-972-6402 July 26, 2017 Hancock Street, Chauncey Street and Boylston Street Residents: The Watertown Department of Public Works and our contractor, Newport Construction, would like to inform you that we will be replacing only sub -standard (cement lined and/or cast iron, or undersized copper) water services and fire hydrants on Boylston Street and Chauncey Street. Replacements and upgrades will include only the water service pipe from the town water main to the curb stop (in the sidewalk area). The work for each home will require approximately 3-6 hours to complete. Weather permitting, work will begin on Monday, July 31, 2017. Preparatory work, consisting of saw -cutting of the street will be performed on Thursday and Friday (July 27th and July 28t") in preparation of the excavation work. Currently, work is anticipated at the following house services: 133-135 and 179- 180 Boylston St; 11-13, 12-14, 16, 19-21, 28-30, 34, and 54-56 Chauncey St; and 58-60 Handcock St. The Watertown Police will be informed of the construction and its effects. Typical hours of construction work are from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. We understand that the process is noisy, messy and disruptive and apologize in advance for inconvenience you may experience.
