HomeMy Public PortalAboutHighland Water Main Replacement Mar 29March 25, 2021 TOWN OF WATERTOWN DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS 124 ORCHARD STREET WATERTOWN, MASSACHUSETTS 02472 Tel: 617-972-6420 Fax: 617-972-6402 UPCOMING WATER MAIN REPLACEMENT Highland Avenue between Lexington Street and Olney Street The Watertown Department of Public Works, through its contractor, Commonwealth Construction, Inc., will be replacing the water mains on Highland Avenue starting the week of March 29,2021. The scope of work includes replacement and upgrade of the water main, water services from the main to the curb stop and other miscellaneous work. A temporary by-pass system to provide water during construction will be installed before the actual construction begins. Water will be supplied to homes at all times throughout the project duration using this temporary by-pass. All homes either serviced by and or/providing water to this temporary system will not be billed for water consumption during the course of this project. The contractor will need access to your basement to complete connection of the by-pass. You will be notified when access for the connection is required. All of the contractor's personnel have been instructed to operate in full compliance with the State of Massachusetts Department of Public Health's COVID-19 guidelines with respect to social distancing and personal protective equipment. During construction efforts will be taken to avoid and reduce any inconveniences or interruptions to your water service, however you should be aware of the following tasks which may cause you a temporary disturbance: ® Temporary water bypass piping and hoses will be installed along the sides of the homes. Please watch your step when walking, and please be careful when driving near temporary hoses. Basement access may be required to provide temporary water service to your residence. You will receive a notification in advance of this work. During the course of this work, you may experience short periods of discoloration and reduced pressure. You will be notified of any planned water system shutdown procedure 48 hours beforehand.. o On -street parking will not be allowed near the work area during this period; however access to driveways will be maintained. Roads around the work area will be closed to through traffic. © The expected work hours are from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
