SIDEWALK, DRIVEWAY AND HANDICAPPED RAMP REPAIRS
Hillside Road from Upland Road to Maplewood Street
The Watertown Department of Public Works and our contractor, Fred Deroma and Sons Inc., will begin the
repair of concrete sidewalks. This work is part of our annual sidewalk maintenance and repair program,
where selected sidewalk panels and driveway aprons that are heavily damaged and/or trip hazards are
repaired or replaced.
The work is scheduled to start, WEATHER PERMITTING, Friday, May 19, 2017 and will run for several days
thereafter. Typical work hours will be 7 AM to 4 PM.
• During the concrete installation process wooden planks will be placed across walkways to access your
residence.
• Please do not park your car next to any areas marked in front of your residence during construction.
• You will be notified by the Contractor prior to any work that affects access to your driveway. Driveways
may remain closed up to three days to permit the concrete to cure.
• Please note that there may be lapses in time between sidewalk excavation, installing wood sidewalk
forms, and final concrete work.
• Adjustments necessary to make sidewalks and driveways ADA compliant may require minor regrading
of areas beyond the back of sidewalk, such as landscaping, driveways or walkways. The Department
will match existing materials and finishes to the maximum extent possible.
• The Watertown Police will be informed of the construction and its effects, including the need for
extended on -street parking due to driveway repairs.
• If the majority of the house frontage is being replaced, the border between the sidewalk and roadway will
be made a grass border. Property owners may petition the Public Works Dept. to have an existing paved
border retained.
We apologize for the short notice and understand that the process is noisy, messy and disruptive and
apologize in advance for any inconvenience you may experience. We know you will enjoy the improved
appearance and condition of your sidewalks for many years in the future.

Sincerely,
Gerald S. Mee, Jr.
