Mee Jr. Superintendent MAIN STREET PEDESTRIAN SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS CONSTRUCTION NOTICE Please be informed that Daigle Electric will be performing construction work on Main Street at the crosswalk between the Post Office and Public Library as part of MASSDOT PROJECT 608540; (DISTRICT 6- PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLE FACILITY UPGRADES AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS). The project will begin on Wednesday, September 5, 2018. The project scope includes installation of curb extensions and other appurtenant work to improve pedestrian safety, including cement concrete sidewalks, wheelchair ramps, installing new traffic signs and pavement markings, drainage improvements, granite curbing, and all other incidental work associated with the above work. • Typical work hours will be 9 AM to 4 PM. • Vehicular traffic in both directions will be maintained, however expect delays in the work area. • Parking restrictions will be in place and enforced in the work area during working hours. • During the work, the crosswalk on Main Street between the Post Office and Library will be closed and a pedestrian detour will be in place. • The outbound Route 70/70A MBTA bus stop at Thaxter Street will be moved from before Thaxter Street to after Thaxter Street. • Please note that there may be lapses in time between drainage installation, road repaving, curbing installation, sidewalk excavation, etc. due to different crews performing different phases of work. • The Watertown Police will be informed of the construction and its effects. Police details will be present during work hours. We understand that the process is noisy, messy and disruptive and apologize in advance for any inconvenience you may experience.
