APPROVING MIDDLESEX COUNTY OPEN SPACE CULTURAL GRANT FOR
THE ARTS
WHEREAS, the County of Middlesex ( "County") has approved the issuance of an open
space cultural grant in support of the cultural and performing Arts to be directed through
the Borough of Carteret ( "Borough ") to provide $295,000.00 to assist the Borough with
the Carteret Ritz Theater Acquisition and Restoration Project and $55,000.00 to support
the recently formed Central Jersey Arts Council, Inc. ( "Arts Council "); and
WHEREAS, given the vast benefits, both cultural and economic, the perfomring Arts
bestow upon a conmtunity, a region, and its citizens, the Borough wholly supports and
wishes to accept this grant from the County for said purposes; and
WHEREAS, as a condition to the donation of such monies the parties must enter into a
formal Agreement setting forth the terms and conditions of said grant; and
WHEREAS, as noted, the Borough finds said grant to be desirable and is willing to
accept said donation pursuant to the terms and conditions set forth in the attached Grant
Agreement.
WHEREAS, the Borough also agrees to match the County's finding of the Arts Council
to help support the Arts Council's efforts and programming directly within the Borough.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough
of Carteret as follows:
I. That the Mayor is hereby authorized and d to execute the
attached Grant Agreement with County of Middlesex on behalf of the
Borough.
2. That the Borough also hereby authorizes a S55,000 matching grant
to the Central Jersey Arts Council, Inc. for its art's programming
d within the Borough.
