RESOLUTION NO. 21-9937
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, APPOINTING
VERONICA J. WILLIAMS TO THE AUDIT
COMMITTEE; PROVIDING FOR ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, pursuant to 218.391(2)(b), Florida Statutes, "the auditor
selection committee for a municipality, special district, district school board,
charter school, or charter technical career center must consist of at least three
members. One member of the auditor selection committee must be a member of
the governing body of an entity specified in this paragraph, who shall serve as
the chair of the committee"; and
WHEREAS, on November 10, 2021, former Mayor Matthew Pigatt
effectively resigned from the Audit Committee; and
WHEREAS, the Audit Committee shall have at least three (3) voting
members; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Opa-Locka, FL to appoint
Veronica J. Williams to the Audit Committee.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Adoption of Representations. The foregoing "Whereas" clauses are
hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a
specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2. Appointing Mayor Veronica I. Williams to the Audit Committee.
The City Commission of the City of Opa-Locka, Florida hereby appoints the
following member to the Audit Committee to replace former Mayor Pigatt:
(1) Mayor Veronica J. Williams (Chair of Audit Committee)
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
final passage.
