Thursday, September 10, 2020
The Brewster Old King' s Highway Regional Historic District Committee, acting under the Massachusetts
General Laws, Chapter 470, Acts of 1973 as amended came to order remotely at 7 : 00 pm . Committee
members present were Carol Appleton, Steven Bergquist, George Carey, Jim Trabulsie ( Chairman ) , and
Sara Provos ( Senior Department Assistant) . Patricia Busch and Tom Turcketta were not present .

Addition
■ Chairman Trabulsie read into record the specification sheet .
■ Paul Muldoon , Muldoon Architects represented the homeowners .
■ Mr . Muldoon noted that the homeowners are trying to maintain the original cottage and keep
the historic characteristics .
■ George Carey asked for clarification of the material to be used on the exterior of the second floor
addition . Mr . Muldoon noted that he would agree to use tongue and groove in a wooden
material .
■ Sara Provos read into record abutter notices from Erin and Frank Capone as well as from William
Hanney

■ Carol Appleton moved to accept with the stipulation that the siding on the second floor addition
will be wood . Steven Bergquist seconded .

■ Steven Bergquist abstained from voting on this application .
■ Joshua and Deborah Straughn returned to discuss the requested changes .

■ Carol Appleton asked for clarification on the door to the left of the garage / East Side elevation .
■ Mr. Straughn stated that the door will be an Anderson 15 light, fixed grills, and specification sheet
will be provided .
■ Mr. Straughn also noted that the access door to 2 "d floor will be wood .

■ Carol Appleton moved to accept as amended ; garage door, 15 light side door and tongue and 3
groove wood door on 2 "d floor . George Carey seconded .

■ Ms . Coker stated that she is adding a 2414 deck on the rear of her home .
■ Ms . Coker represented herself and had nothing additional to add to specification sheet .
■ Deck will be flush with the house with no step down
■ Carol Appleton moved to accept as presented . Steven Bergquist seconded .
■ All voted in favor.

■ Melanie Braverman , 2095 Main Street, Map 68 Lot 43
■ Vinyl Siding
■ Ms . Molly Perdue was present at the meeting and discussed options that she was looking into
that would be used in place of vinyl siding .
■ Ms . Perdue provided a sample of engineered wood that looks like clapboard for the
Committee to review .
■ The Chairman asked that the homeowners come back when ready and submit an
Amendment that includes specific details on the work to be done on the exterior of the home
for review .
2 . George Carey moved to approve the July 23, 2020 Minutes . Carol Appleton seconded . All voted in
favor .
3 . Carol Appleton moved to approve the August 6, 2020 Minutes , George Carey seconded . All voted in
favor .
