A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING
THE STREET CLOSURE OF MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. BLVD. (BULLIS ROAD TO
HULME AVENUE) FOR A CARNIVAL AND CAR SHOW SEPTEMBER 18 -23, 2012
AND AUTHORIZING THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC WORKS /CITY ENGINEER TO
CLOSE THE STREET FOR THIS EVENT
WHEREAS, Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. (between Bullis Road and Hulme
Avenue) needs to be closed to provide a carnival and car show; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the closure is to conduct an event to fundraise for the
Annual Candy Cane Lane Parade; and
WHEREAS, the street closure is scheduled for Tuesday, September 18 through
Sunday, September 23, 2012; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Vehicle Code Section 21101 (e), the temporary closure
would be necessary for the safety and protection of those attending the event.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council hereby finds, in accordance with Vehicle Code
Section 21101 (e), that the temporary closure of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. (between
Bullis Road and Hulme Avenue) is necessary for the safety and protection of persons
wishing to attend or participate in the carnival and car show.
Section 2. The City Council approves the temporary street closure of Martin
Luther King Jr. Blvd. between Bullis Road and Hulme Avenue from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00
p.m. Tuesday, September 18 through Sunday, September 23, 2012 to accommodate
the carnival and car show.
Section 3. The City Council authorizes the Director of Public Works /City
Engineer to temporarily close Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. between Bullis Road to Hulme
Avenue for the Carnival and Car Show,
Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED THIS 21 day of August, 2012.
