BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
RESOLUTION NO. L1998
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
SETTING FORTH A POLICY REGARDING TRAFFIC CONTROL AT
INTERSECTIONS WITHIN THE CORPORATE BOUNDARIES
WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works and Safety recognizes that special
circumstances may exist at certain intersections within the community that
merit additional consideration when determining the necessity for a traffic
control device; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Board of Public Works and Safety to establish a
policy defining these special circumstances which may be considered by
the Board when requested to deviate from any applicable federal advisory
standards (promulgated in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control
published by the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Highway
Administration) relating to the placement of traffic control devices.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Board of Public Works and Safety of
the City of Richmond, Indiana that:

schools or playgrounds, a permanent view obstruction, difficult terrain or topography, or
other occurrences that might limit sight distance or create a safety hazard.
