CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA
RESOLUTION NO. 14-2010
A RESOLUTION TO PURCHASE REAL ESTATE LOCATED IN NSP AREA (VAILE NEIGHBORHOOD) RICHMOND, INDIANA
WHEREAS, the City of Richmond is the recipient of a Three Million Dollar ($3,000,000) Neighborhood Stabilization Grant from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Richmond wishes to acquire certain properties located in the geographic area known as the Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) area, and more commonly known
as the Vaile neighborhood, to proceed with the rehabilitation of existing structures and new builds on vacant lots pursuant to NSP grant guidelines; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Metropolitan Development for the City of Richmond has negotiated the purchase of certain real estate owned by First Bank Richmond, N.A., which real estate
is located at 819 South 7th Street, Richmond, Indiana, 47374, and which offer has been accepted in the amount of Twenty-four Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty Dollars and Zero Cents ($24,750.00);
and
WHEREAS, the Department of Metropolitan Development has verified that First Bank Richmond, N.A. (hereinafter “Bank”) has obtained title to the real estate located at 819 South 7th Street
as evidenced by the attached Report of Title Search, attached hereto as Exhibit A and incorporated herein by reference, and the Bank is now in a position to transfer the property to
the City in exchange for the amount of $24,750.00; and
WHEREAS, after careful consideration, it is the desire of the City of Richmond to proceed with the purchase of the above-referenced property; and
WHEREAS, Indiana Code 36-9-6-4 permits and funding is currently available for the Board of Public Works & Safety to make the purchase of the stated property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, that the City of Richmond will purchase the property located at 819 South 7th Street from the First Bank Richmond,
N.A.; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ALSO RESOLVED that Tony Foster, Director of the Department of Metropolitan Development or Sharon Palmer, as the City’s Community Development Specialist, shall be
authorized to execute any and all documents associated with such purchase.
