Item: Follow-up on
North End Recycling - City Council Goals for 2014/15 - Prioritize Site Selection for Future Location of a 34 Cubic Yard Recycling Compactor near the North End Business District. Cost
estimate of project is from $40,000 to $50,000 for compactor with internal scale, fab key entry system, concrete pad and enclosure. Final cost will depend on location for compactor and
site improvements Request direction from the city council regarding the location of this recycling compactor on the north side.
Potential locations:
• Storer Street – unopened city
ROW
• Laurel (west of McKenzie) – unopened city ROW plus residential driveway
• Lift Station off of Solomon Avenue (behind Huc-a-Poos)
• DPW Transfer Station in the area where oyster
shells are collected with 24 hour access.
Recommend site selection process in FY 15 and funding in FY 16.
