HomeMy Public PortalAbout031-2020 - Grant - Department of Justice - Operation response for Police - Covid19COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA ORDINANCE NO. 31-2020 AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL, ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT FROM THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, OFFICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS, AND BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE WHEREAS, In accordance with Indiana Code (IC) 36-1-4-10, a municipality may execute any documents necessary to receive money from the state or federal government or any other source, and said documents are prepared and executed by the City executive administration, provided that the Common Council of the City of Richmond as the legislative body of the City approves an ordinance for the appropriation of any monies received in accordance with IC 36-4-6-18; and WHEREAS, The United States Department of Justice ("DOJ"), Office of Justice Programs ("OJP"), and Bureau of Justice Assistance (`BJA") has grant funding available through the Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding ("CESF") Program for Fiscal Year 2020 Formula Grant Solicitation CFDA # 16034 Allocation to assist with funding operations of police departments preparing for and responding to the COVID-19 virus; and WHEREAS, The City of Richmond desires to submit a grant application to obtain funding for the funding of operations for the Richmond Police Department; and WHEREAS, No local match is required. NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, as follows: 1. The City of Richmond, in accordance with IC 36-1-4-10, has submitted or will submit a grant application to' the United States Department of Justice ("DOJ"), Office of Justice Programs ("OJP"), and Bureau of Justice Assistance ("BJA") for the funding of operations for the Richmond Police Department connected with preparing for and responding to the COVID-19 virus. 2. The City of Richmond is authorized to accept said grant funding in an amount up to Forty-five Thousand Seven Hundred Ninety Dollars and Zero Cents ($45,790.00). Page 1 of 2 3. All grant funding, if awarded to the City of Richmond, shall be appropriated to help with the funding of operations for the Richmond Police Department connected with preparing for and responding to the COVID-19 virus.
