HomeMy Public PortalAbout033-2020 - Grant - Deparment of Health & Human Services - To provide relief from Covid19COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITE' OF RICHMOND, INDIANA ORDINANCE NO. 33-2020 AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL, ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT FROM THE US DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES WHEREAS, In accordance with Indiana Code (IC) 36-1-4-10, a municipality may execute any documents necessary to receive money from the state or federal government or any other source, and said documents are prepared and executed by the City executive administration, provided that the Common Council of the City of Richmond as the legislative body of the City approves an ordinance for the appropriation of any monies received in accordance with IC 36-4-6-18; and WHEREAS, The United States Department of Health and Human Services has grant funding available through the Federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act ("CARES") Provider Relief Fund and Rural Provider Relief Fund to assist with funding to be used by the Richmond Fire Department to prevent, prepare, and respond to the COVID-19 virus and to be reimbursed for healthcare related expenses. or lost revenues that are attributable to the same; and WHEREAS, The City of Richmond desires to submit a grant application to obtain funding for applicable reimbursement to and funding of operations for the Richmond Fire Department in connection with actions taken due to the COVID-19 virus; and WHEREAS, No local match is required. NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, as follows: 1. The City of Richmond, in accordance with IC 36-1-4-10, has submitted or will submit a grant application to the United States Department of Health and Human Services to assist with funding to be used by the Richmond Fire Department to prevent, prepare, and respond to the COVID-19 virus and to be reimbursed for healthcare related expenses or lost revenues that are attributable to the same. Page I of 2 2. The City of Richmond is authorized to accept said grant funding in an amount up to One Hundred Five Thousand Three Hundred Fifty-three Dollars and Thirty-four Cents ($105,353.34). 3. All grant funding, if awarded to the City of Richmond, shall be appropriated to assist with funding to be used by the Richmond Fire Department to prevent, prepare, and respond to the COVID-19 virus and to be reimbursed for healthcare related expenses or lost revenues that are attributable to the same.
