HomeMy Public PortalAbout041-2020 - Grant - Indiana Department of Home land Security - Two Steel Shipping ContainersCOMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA ORDINANCE NO. 41-2020 AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL, ACCEPTANCE, AND APPROPRIATION OF A GRANT FROM THE INDIANA DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY WHEREAS, In accordance with Indiana Code (IC) 36-1-4-10, a municipality may execute any documents necessary to receive money from the state or federal government or any other source, and said documents are prepared and executed by the City executive administration, provided that the Common Council of the City of Richmond as the legislative body of the City approves an ordinance for the appropriation of any monies received in accordance with IC 36=4=648; and WHEREAS, The Indiana Department of Homeland Security has grant funds or property available through its 2021 Infrastructure Maintenance Grant Program; and WHEREAS, The City of Richmond Fire Department desires to submit a grant application to obtain a grant of property of two (2) steel shipping containers to be utilized for the Israel "Izzy" Edelman Fire and Police Department Training Ground for the Richmond Fire Department; and WHEREAS, No local match is required except if the property grant is awarded the Fire Department shall pay for the shipping and delivery of the containers with payment for the same to be paid from the Fire Department's budget. NOW, THEREFORE, be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, as follows: 1. The City of Richmond in accordance with IC 36-1-4-10 has submitted or will submit a grant application to the Federal Department of Homeland Security for the 2021 Infrastructure Maintenance Grant Program. 2. The City of Richmond Fire Department is authorized to accept the grant of property of two (2) steel shipping containers to be utilized for the Israel "Izzy" Edelman Fire and Police Department Training Ground for the Richmond Fire Department.
