HomeMy Public PortalAbout09-10-2020 THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2020 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5:00 P.M., Thursday, September 10, 2020, in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 50 North 5th Street, Richmond, Indiana. CALL TO ORDER President Robinson called the meeting to order and the following business was conducted: ROLL CALL Board members present were: Vicki Robinson and Emily Palmer. Absent was Matt Evans Also in attendance were Kim Vessels, Assistant City Attorney; Monica Young, Ordinance Violations Specialist; Fire Chief Jerry Purcell; Lieutenant Donnie Benedict; Doug Gardner, Fire Prevention; John Lackey, Code Enforcement; and, Media. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Ms. Palmer moved to approve the minutes of September 3, 2020, supported by Ms. Robinson. Upon a vote viva voce,the motion carried. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Ms. Palmer moved to approve the Claims for Payment for September 11, 2020 in the amount of Four Hundred Seventy One Thousand Eight Hundred Thirty Three dollars and fifty cents ($471,833.50), supported by Ms. Robinson. Upon a vote viva voce,the motion carried. PAYROLL CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Ms. Palmer moved to approve the Payroll Claims for Payment for September 11, 2020 in the amount of Eight Hundred Eighteen Thousand Seventy Five dollars and seventy-five cents ($818,075.75), supported by Ms. Robinson. Upon a vote vive voce,the motion carried. PAYROLL CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT FOR PENSION REQUESTS STREET CLOSURES Jus One More Bar& Grill Customer Appreciation Day Board of Works Minutes September 10,2020 On Saturday September 26th,2020,they are requesting the sidewalks closed from the front door of their business on South "H" Street to the alley. The event is being held in the parking lot. They are also requesting a noise ordinance for the evening. The event is scheduled from 6pm— 11pm. Ms. Palmer moved to approve both the closure of the sidewalk and the noise ordinance, both were supported by Ms. Robinson. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. ADDITIONAL STREET CLOSURES ADDED AT MEETING Lifted Church has requested the closure of N. Service Street for Thursday, September 10 and Friday, September 11, 2020 from 7 pm— 10pm for church event. Ms. Palmer moved to approve, supported by Ms. Robinson. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. The City of Richmond has requested the closure of the Main Street Bridge for Saturday September.12, 2020 for a power wash cleaning from Rocket Pro Power Washing for the procession of WWII remains to arrive at Veterans Memorial Park. Ms. Palmer moved to approve, supported by Ms. Robinson. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. HANDICAP SIGN RENEWALS 326 South 12th Street 1215 North"C" Street 2205 Grand Blvd. 704 South 11th Street Ms. Palmer moved to approve, supported by Ms. Robinson. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. NEW HANDICAP SIGN 229 South 7th Street Request was denied by Lieutenant Benedict as the person requesting already has one sign. Ms. Palmer moved to approve, supported by Ms. Robinson. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. . 2021 CITY HOLIDAY SCHEDULE • -Finance Department is requesting approval of the 2021 Holiday Schedule Board of Works Minutes September 10,2020 Ms. Palmer moved to approve, supported by Ms. Robinson. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. BID OPENINGS BID AWARDS CONTRACTS • CONTRACT NO. 103-2020 -BRUMBAUGH CONSTRUCTION,INC. -Performing services in connection with the Izzy David Edelman Police and Fire Training and Physical Fitness Center. -Not to exceed$1,244,000.00 Ms. Palmer moved to approve, supported by Ms. Robinson. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. • CONTRACT NO. 104-2020-MIKESELL EXCAVATING -Emergency demolition of house and garage at 137 South 13th Street -Not to exceed$58,800 Ms. Palmer moved to approve, supported by Ms. Robinson. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. CHANGE ORDERS • CONTRACT 78-2020-CHANGE ORDER NO. 1—SPARTAN FIRE, LLC. -Some additions and deletions regarding the building of the new fire truck while it is still under construction. -Not to exceed$9,777.00 Ms. Palmer moved to approve, supported by Ms.Robinson. Upon a vote viva voce, the motion carried. ADDENDUMS RESOLUTIONS Board of Works Minutes September 10,2020 PETITIONS MISCELLANEOUS ADJOURNMENT After a motion was duly made, the meeting was adjourned.
