AWARDING BID FOR THE MINUS STREET / INDUSTRIAL ROAD
IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Borough has publicly advertised for the receipt of bids for the Minue Street /
Industrial Road Improvements Project; and
1S, the Borough has solicited and received five (5) bid proposals for the Minue Street /
Road Improvements Project as follows:
AS, Lucas Brothers, Inc. has submitted the lowest bid for said contract as evidenced by the
on file with the Borough's Purchasing Department and with the Borough Engineer; and
LEAS, the Borough Engineer has reviewed the above bid proposals and has recommended the
of a contract to Lucas Brothers, Inc., in a total amount not to exceed $535,766.07 (base bids and

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret as
follows:
1. That the appropriate Borough Officials are hereby authorized to enter into a
contract with Lucas Brothers, Inc., of Morganville, N.J. for the Project for
the sum of $535,766.07 in accordance in all respects with the request for
. proposals and bid on same.
2. That a copy of this Resolution shall be forwarded to the Borough's
Purchasing Department and Borough Engineer.
3. That the aforementioned award of bid is contingent upon formal approval
from the New Jersey Department of Labor, Division of Wage and Hour
Compliance.

The lowest responsive bidder for the project is Lucas Brothers, Inc. of 80 Amboy Road,
Morganville, New Jersey 07751. Lucas Brothers has provided a total bid (base bids and alternates)
in the amount of $535,766.07.
The low bid provided by Lucas Brothers is satisfactory and all the required bid documents have
been provided.
We have worked with Lucas Brothers on numerous similar projects over the past few years and
their work has been satisfactory.
Based on their low bid and satisfactory past performance, it is recommended the Borough award a
contract to Lucas Brothers, Inc, for the Minue Street and Industrial Road Improvements project in
the total amount of $535,766.07 (Base Bids plus Alternates).
