A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF THE
VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA, CONFIRMING
THE VILLAGE'S ABILITY TO FUND AND SUPPORTING
THE PERMITTING, DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, AND
MONITORING OF THE VILLAGE'S BEACH
RENOURISHMENT PROJECT; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Village has assumed responsibility for the maintenance and preservation
of the beach adjacent to the Village that is the subject of the Village's Beach Renourishment Project
(the "Project"); and
WHEREAS, the Village supports the permitting, design, construction, and monitoring of
the Project, to be located approximately between Florida Department of Environmental Protection's
Monuments R-102 and R-108 in Miami -Dade County, Florida; and
WHEREAS, the Village recognizes the economic, recreational, environmental and shore
protection value that the beach renourishment will provide; and
WHEREAS, the Village is willing to serve as the local sponsor for the Project and has
identified funding in its capital improvement budget for the continued permitting, design,
construction, and monitoring of the Project anticipated in Fiscal Year 2015-2016 with performance
monitoring through Fiscal Year 2015-2018; and
WHEREAS, the Village of Key Biscayne Village Council has determined that the Project
and the adoption of this Resolution are in the best interest of the Village and its residents.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE VILLAGE COUNCIL
OF THE VILLAGE OF KEY BISCAYNE, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Recitals Adopted. The recitals stated above are hereby confirmed and
adopted.
Section 2. Funding of Project. The Village is committed to provide the balance of any
funding required for the construction and monitoring of the Project that is not funded by Miami -
Dade County, by the State of Florida through the Florida Beach Erosion Control Program, or any
other source.
Section 3. Effective Date. This Resolution shall be effective immediately upon adoption
hereof.
