REZONING THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT THE NORTHEAST CORNER OF
ROUTE 59 AND JOLIET ROAD FROM R-1, SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENTIAL
TO B-1, NEIGHBORHOOD CONVENIENCE CENTER DISTRICT.

ORDINANCE NO. 2157
AN ORDINANCE REZONING THE PROPERTY LOCATED AT THE NORTHEAST
CORNER OF ROUTE 59 AND JOLIET ROAD FROM R-1, SINGLE FAMILY
RESIDENTIAL TO B-1, NEIGHBORHOOD CONVENIENCE CENTER DISTRICT
IN THE VILLAGE OF PLAINFIELD, WILL COUNTY, ILLINOIS
WHEREAS, Overman-Jones Funeral Home has requested rezoning from R-1,
Single Family Residential to B-1 Neighborhod Convenience Center District, and
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission has made the following findings based upon the
evidence presented to it:
A. The amendment promotes the public health, safety, comfort, convenience and
general welfare and complies with the policies and official land use plan and other official
plans of the Village.
B. The trend of development in the area of the subject property is consistent with
the requested amendment.
C. The requested zoning classification permits uses which are more suitable than
the uses permitted under the existing zoning classification.
D. The property cannot yield a reasonable use if permitted only under the conditions
allowed under the existing zoning classification.
E. The amendment, if granted, will not alter the essential character of the
neighborhood and will not be a substantial detriment to adjacent property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF
TRUSTEES OF THE VILLAGE OF PLAINFIELD, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1.The President and Board of Trustees of the Village of Plainfield hereby
adapt the findings of the Plan Commission and that the petition requesting a rezoning from
R-1, Single Family Residential to B-1, Neighborhood Convenience Center District, as to
the real estate hereinafter described be granted.
Territo Described.
The Southwesterly 140 feet of Lot 3 in Block 4 in Corbins Addition
to Plainfield, according to the Plat thereof recorded January 20,
1853, in Book Z, pages 554 and 555, as Document No. 15068,
in Will County, Illinois.
Section 2.There is hereby granted a rezoning from R-1, Single Family Residential to

B-1, Neighborhood Convenience Center District.
Section 3. This Ordinance shall be in effect upon its passage, approval and
publication as provided by law.
