ALL WORK SHALL BE DONE IN ACCORDANCE WITH APWA STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS, FOR PUBLIC WORKS CONSTRUCTION 2003 EDITION. 2. ATTENTION IS DIRECTED TO THE POSSIBLE EXISTENCE OF UNDERGROUND FACILITIES NOT KNOWN OR IN A LOCATION DIFFERENT FROM THAT WHICH IS MARKED IN THE STREET, SHOWN ON THE PLANS OR IN THE SPECIAL PROVISIONS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY THE EXACT LOCATION OF ALL UNDERGROUND FACILITIES PRIOR TO DOING WORK THAT MAY DAMAGE SUCH FACILITIES OR INTERFERE WITH THEIR SERVICES. 3. AT LEAST FORTY—EIGHT (48) HOURS BEFORE COMMENCING WORK, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT UNDERGROUND SERVICES ALERT (USA) CALL 1-800-227-2600. 4. CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLY WITH ALL STATE, COUNTY AND CITY LAWS AND ORDINANCES AND REGULATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, O.S.H.A. AND INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT COMMISSION RELATING TO SAFETY AND CHARACTER OF WORK, EQUIPMENT AND LABOR PERSONNEL. 5. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE ALL LIGHTS, SIGNS, BARRICADES, FLAG MEN, OR OTHER DEVICES NECESSARY TO PROVIDE FOR PUBLIC SAFETY AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR CONSTRUCTION OF LOCAL STREETS AND ROADS JULY 2002 EDITION. 6. CONTRACTOR SHALL EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN WORKING IN THE VICINITY OF THE HIGH VOLTAGE STREET LIGHT CIRCUIT AND OTHER POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS UTILITY INSTALLATIONS. IF ANY STREET LIGHT CIRCUITS ARE DAMAGED OR INTERRUPTED, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT THE CITY STREET LIGHT CREW IMMEDIATELY FOR EMERGENCY REPAIR. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPENSATE THE CITY FOR ANY COST RELATED TO THE REPAIR OF THE STREET LIGHT CIRCUIT. 7. THE LOCATIONS AND DEPTHS OF THE EXISTING VCP SEWERS SHOWN ON THESE PLANS ARE BASED UPON THE BEST AVAILABLE RECORDS. SPOT REPAIR AND LATERAL SERVICE LOCATIONS ARE BASED ON DISTANCES MEASURED FROM THE CENTERLINE OF THE MANHOLE BY TELEVISION INSPECTION CREWS. DEFECTS TO BE CORRECTED ARE AS DESCRIBED IN THE REPAIR SCHEDULE. THE RECORDS AND DATA THAT FORM THE BASIS OF THIS INFORMATION ARE AVAILABLE IN THE CITY ENGINEER'S OFFICE FOR REVIEW BY THE BIDDER. SAID DOCUMENTATION IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR REMOVAL FROM THE ENGINEER'S OFFICE. 8. PRIOR TO WORKING ON EXISTING SEWER PIPES, CONTRACTOR SHALL NOTIFY HOMEOWNERS AND OTHER USERS AFFECTED OF ANY INTERRUPTION OF SEWER SERVICES IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTRACT SPECIFICATIONS. 9. CONTRACTOR SHALL PROVIDE PUMPS OR OTHER MEANS TO PREVENT SEWER WASTES BACK—UP INTO RESIDENTIAL HOUSES OR OTHER USER'S FACILITIES DUE TO CONTRACTOR'S WORK ON EXISTING SEWERS. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR CLEAN UP ANY DAMAGES CAUSED BY ANY BACK—UP RELATED TO THE CONTRACTOR'S WORK. 10. PRIOR TO RECONNECTING LATERALS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL DETERMINE IF EACH LATERAL IS STILL IN USE. ONLY LIVE LATERALS ARE TO BE RECONNECTED . PAYMENT FOR LATERAL RECONNECTION WILL BE BASED ON ACTUAL NUMBER OF LIVE LATERALS RECONNECTED. 11. CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLETE ALL TRENCH BACK FILL TO WITHIN 0.1' OF FINISHED GRADE AT TIME OF SEWER REPAIR. CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLETE STREET RESTORATION WITHIN 5 WORKING DAYS OF COMPLETION OF SEWER REPAIR AT THAT PARTICULAR STREET. CONTRACTOR SHALL COMPLETE PUBLIC UTILITY EASEMENT RESTORATION WITHIN 3 WORKING DAYS OF COMPLETION OF SEWER REPAIR AT THE SITE OR AT THE DIRECTION OF THE ENGINEER. TREE PLANTING AND SODDING MAY BE DONE AT A LATER DAY IF APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER. 12. DUE TO THE CLOSE PROXIMITY OF SOME EXISTING POWER POLES TO THE REPAIR AREAS AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE ALL NECESSARY WORK INCLUDING TEMPORARY POLE SUPPORT WITH PG&E WHEN WORKING IN THESE AREAS.
