® Notice is hereby given that the City of Greencastle is vacating an alley way running East -
West between Maple and Illinois Streets in Greencastle, Putnam County, Indiana. It is more
particularly described as follows:
Situate in the State of Indiana, County of Putnam and being a part of Block 41 in Ash's
Enlargement to the Town (now City) of Greencastle, Indiana more particularly described to-
wit:
Beginning at the Southeast comer of Lot #1, Block 41 of Ash's Enlargement to the Town
(now City) of Greencastle as shown in Plat Book 1, page 33 in the office of the Recorder of
Putnam County, Indiana; thence South 12.0 feet with the West line of Maple Street to the
Northeast comer of Lot #8 in said Block #1; thence West 182.00 with the North line of Lots
#8 and 7 to the Northwest comer of Lot #7 in said Block #1; thence North 12.00 feet with
the East line of an existing alley to the Southwest comer of Lot #2 in said Block #1; thence
East 182.00 feet with the South line of Lots #2 and 1 to the point of beginning, containing
0.05 acre, more or less.
ALSO:
Beginning at the Southeast comer of Lot #3, Block #1 of Ash's Enlargement to the Town
(now City) of Greencastle as shown in Plat Book 1, page 33 in the Office of the Recorder of
Putnam County, Indiana; thence South 12.0 feet with the West line of an existing alley to the
Northeast comer of Lot #6 in said Block # 1; thence West 182.00 feet with the North line of
Lots 46 and 5 to the Northwest corner of Lot 45 in said Block #1; thence North 12.00 feet
with the East line of Illinois Street to the Southwest corner of Lot #4 in said Block #1; thence
East 182.00 feet with the South line of Lots #4 and 3 to the point of beginning containing
0.05 acre, more or less.
Subject to all rights -of -way and pertinent easements of record.
Notice if further given that this possible vacation of property will be heard and determined by the
Greencastle Common Council at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th day of July, 2001, at the Greencastle City
Hall, 1 North Locust Street, Greencastle, Indiana.
Interested persons may attend and remonstrate or written remonstrances may be filed with the City
of Greencastle Clerk- Treasurer at the Greencastle City Hall prior to and up to the time ofthe hearing.

WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of Greencastle, Indiana, has after public
hearing determined that closing and vacation of the following described alley is in the public and
economic interest of the City of Greencastle, such closing will not unreasonably interfere with the
flow of traffic on the City of Greencastle road system, and that the vacation should be granted.
NOW THEREFORE be it ordained by the Common Council of the City of Greencastle that
the following alley located in the City of Greencastle, Putnam County, Indiana, and more
particularly described as follows:
Situate in the State of Indiana, County of Putnam and being a part of Block 41 in Ash's
Enlargement to the Town (now City) of Greencastle, Indiana more particularly described to-
wit:
Beginning at the Southeast corner of Lot 41, Block 41 of Ash's Enlargement to the Town
(now City) of Greencastle as shown in Plat Book 1, page 33 in the office of the Recorder of
Putnam County, Indiana; thence South 12.0 feet with the West line of Maple Street to the
Northeast corner of Lot 48 in said Block #1; thence West 182.00 with the North line of Lots
48 and 7 to the Northwest corner of Lot 47 in said Block #I; thence North 12.00 feet with
the East line of an existing alley to the Southwest corner of Lot #2 in said Block #1; thence
East 182.00 feet with the South line of Lots #2 and 1 to the point of beginning, containing
0.05 acre, more or less.
ALSO:
Beginning at the Southeast corner of Lot #3, Block #1 of Ash's Enlargement to the Town
(now City) of Greencastle as shown in Plat Book 1, page 33 in the Office of the Recorder of
Putnam County, Indiana; thence South 12.0 feet with the West line of an existing alley to the
Northeast corner of Lot 46 in said Block #1; thence West 182.00 feet with the North line of
Lots 46 and 5 to the Northwest corner of Lot 45 in said Block 41; thence North 12.00 feet
with the East line of Illinois Street to the Southwest comer of Lot #4 in said Block #1; thence
East 182.00 feet with the South line of Lots 44 and 3 to the point of beginning containing
0.05 acre, more or less.
is hereby vacated as an alley of the City of Greencastle, Putnam County, Indiana, and that such land
shall cease to be a public street, alley or right of way, and that title to such vacated land shall revert,
by law, to the original property owners.
The City of Greencastle maintains aperpetual easement in the vacated property together with
the right to erect, lay, construct, inspect, repair, remove and replace water lines, sanitary sewers,
storm sewers and other municipal utilities in such vacated land.
This Ordinance shall have full force and effect of law immediately upon its passage by the
Common Council of the City of Greencastle, Indiana.
