AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF'.RICHMOND, INDIANA, APPRO.-
PRIATING THE SUM OF $749673400 OUT OF FUNDS OF.THE
MUNICIPAL ELECTRIC LIGHTING AND POWER PLANT FOR THE
PURCHASE OF REAL ESTATE AND SECURING EASEMENTS AND
RIGHTS OF WAY FOR THE PURPOSE OF SECURING A SITE FOR
THE ERECTION OF A NEW LIGHT PLANT.
WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of
Richmond, Indiana, acting as a Committee of a whole for
the operation of the Municipal Electric Lighting and
Power Plant, .a part of `the City of Richmond, has hereto-
fore requested the Board of Public Works and Safety of
such City to secure an option on certain real estate
situate in Wayne Township, Wayne County, Indiana, and
known as the "Gilbert Farm" for the use of a new light
plant site, and
WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works and
Safety did in pursuance to said request secure an option
on said real estate, and-,
WHEREAS it is the desire of the Committee
acting as' a whole for the, Municipal Electric Lighting
and Power Plant that the Board of Public Works and
Safety now purchase said real-estate, at .and for the sum
of Sixty-four Thousand Two Hundred `Seventy®three Dollars
($64,273.00) plus the 1952 takes, payable in the year
1953, in the sum of Four Hundred Dollars ($400.00), and
that said Board also purchase or secure the necessary
real estate, rights of way; or easements to complete the
project of erecting anew light plant for the sum of
Ten Thousand Dollars ($1®,000o00)1 making 'in all the sum
of Seventy-four Thousand Sias Hundred Seventy-three Dollars
( $74,673.00), and
WHEREAS, it would be to the best interests of
said City of Richmond and its citizens that said purchase
be made.;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common
Council ;of the City of Richmond, Indiana:
SECTION I. That the sum of Seventy-four
Thousand Six Hundred Seventy-three Dollars. ($74,673.00)
be Appr6p.riated out of the funds of the Municipal Elec-
tric Lighting and Power Plant, to.be used.by the Board
of Public Works and Safety -in :.purchasing :the following

described real estate, to -wit:
"A part of the southeast quarter of Section eight (8),
Township thirteen (13) north, Range one (.1) west, in
Wayne 'County, State "of Indiana, the tract of land here-
in conveyed being described as follows.- Beginning -at
a point in the east line of said quarter section one thousand three
h-undre" twenty-nine- and .ninety -hundredths; (1329.90-)
feet south of the northeast•corner'of said quarter
section and running thence south one thousand three
hundred thirty-four and sixty-six hundredths (1334.661
feet, more or less, to the southeast corner of said
quarter: section;, thence west, on.the south line of
said quarter section two thousand six hundred eighty-
two and seven hundredths (2682.0,7) feet, more or less,
to the west line. of said quarter section; thence

north, othe west line -of said quarter section,.one
thousand three hundred thirty-four and sixty=six
hundredths (1334,66) feet, more or less, to the south -
line of land now -or formerly owned by Harry W. Gilbert;.
thence east, on the south line of -land now or formerly
owned by said Harry W. Gilbert,'two thousand six hundred
eighty-two and seven hundredths,(2682.07) feet, more or
less, to the place of beginnings _it being the intention
to hereby convey all the land owned by said Indiana
Gilbert,.deceased, in the said quarter section which
laid is all the established south half of said. quarter
section,..containing an area of eighty-one and ninety-
four hundredths (81.94) acres, more or.less...
"ALSO a past of -the southeast quarter of Section eight
(8), Township thirteen (13) north, Range one (1) west,
in Wayne County, State of Indiana,. the tract of land
herein conveyed being described as follows: Beginning
at a point on the east line of said quarter Section
seven hundred fifty-two and -fifty-six hundredths
(752.56).f eet south of the northeast corner of said
quarter section and running thence south; on the east

and thirty-four hundredths, (.577034)-' feet. t® the northeast

corner of land of the -grantor herein; "thence east, along
the north line of said grantor's.land two thousand six

to the place of beginning, excepting the following de-
scribed tract of land; Beginning at a point in'the east
line of said quarter -section seven hundred -fifty-two and
fifty-six hundredths (752.56) feet south of the north-
east corner of.sa.id quarter section.and running.thence
south, on the east line of said quarter section., one
hundred thirty-five (135.00) feet; thence west,one

and for the further, purpose of paying the 1952 taxes on
the above described real estate. as part of the purchase
price thereof, and for 'the securing of necessary real
estate, rights of way, or easements to complete the pro -
jest of erecting a
new
light
plant.
SECTION
II.
This
ordinance shall be in full
force and -effect from and after its passage and signing
by the Mayor.
