A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
DESIGNATING THE CITY EMPLOYEE POSITIONS TO SERVE THE DUTIES OF THE
CITY MANAGER WHEN THE CITY MANAGER IS ABSENT FOR ANY REASON
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood is a General Law City under California law and
is governed by the elected City Council; and
WHEREAS, the management of the day-to-day business of the City is the
responsibility of the City Manager; and
WHEREAS, in the absence of the City Manager for any reason, the Assistant
City Manager generally serves the duties of the City Manager; and
WHEREAS, Section 2-2.7 of the Lynwood Municipal Code provides that during
any absence, suspension or disability of the City Manager, the City Council may
designate the official who shall perform the duties of the City Manager during his period
of absence, suspension or disability; and
WHEREAS, for any time when an Assistant City Manager is not designated or
absent, the Council is desirous of establishing a succession plan to temporarily perform
the duties of the City Manager.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE LYNWOOD CITY COUNCIL DOES HEREBY
RESOLVE AND DETERMINE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. Pursuant to Section 2-2.7 of the Lynwood Municipal Code, the City
Council hereby designates the following succession plan of City employee positions to
serve as the administrative head of the City by performing the duties of the City
Manager when the City Manager is absent for any reason. In the absence or vacancy
of any lower-numbered positions below, the position holding the next higher number
shall be the Council's designee pursuant to Section 2-2.7:
1. Assistant City Manager
2. Director of Community Development
Section 2. This Resolution is to be given effect upon its adoption by the City
Council of the City of Lynwood and execution of the same by the appropriate parties.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 5th day of February, 2013.
