SANITATION AND SPECIAL'SANITARY TAXING DISTRICT BY -THE CITY OF

RICHMOND
WHEREAS the -City -of Richmond. Is a city of the second. class under
the -laws relating to the classification-of'.cities, and is' authorized by
the .provisions, of Chapt$ 258 of the Acts of -1921 to adopt. by •ordir_ance
and operate'under the provisions of Chapter. 157 of -the Acts 'of 1917; a.s
amended,. the title of which act, as amended by Chapter. 15 of ..the. Acts of
1929;' reads, as:' follows: "An act concerning the department ,of public
sanitation in cities of the first.arid'-second classes, and cities•operating
..under the city manager plan of•government, defining their powers and duties,
ere a . ti I ngsanitary districts adneisti-ng of.such cities a nd,incorporated towns
and..land lyirsg.located iaithout•the boundaries :thereof.;: repealing'donflicting
laws and declaring an emergency"; and
�fiEREAS' "the Common. Council now finds -that it would be to the best`
interests of the City of Richmond and its'citizens.to adopt and operate
under the provisions of said Chapter 157.'of the Acts of. 1917, as amended,
and by: such adoption to create .a department of public, sanitation and a
special sanitary taxing district as provided jn'said 'act; now therefore
BE IT. ORDAINED.BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE: CITY 'OF. RICHMOND
Section 1. That the City of Richmond adopt :the act entitled RAn
act concerning the department of,public sanitation in cities.of the first
and second classes and cities operating under the city manager plan of.,
government,_ -defining their powers and duties, creating sanitary districts
consisting of ..such cities .and incorporated towns •and .land lying" located .
without the'b,oundaries thereof,, repealing a)nflicting laws. and. -declaring
an emergency,li'the same being Chapter 157 of the..Acts'.of 1917 as amended,
and all acts supplemental thereto, and..that a,department of public sani-
tation and special sanitary taxing district be and the same is hereby
established.under•the provisions of.sai.d act, as 'amended, and all acts_
supplemental,thereto.

Section 2. That the 'Mayor be and he i.s hereby authorized_ and directed
to cause a certified copy of this ordinance to be filed with"the Indiana
State Board. of Health and to appoint the. members of the board of sanitary
commissioners to have"control of- said department of public sanitation in
accordance'with the provisions.of said act.
Section 3. A11:�.ordinances_, and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith
are hereby repealed.
Section 4. -This ordinance shall be in, full force and effect,upon approval
and signing by the Mayor.
