A SUPPLEMENTAL ORDINANCE TO PROVIDE FOR THE SECURITY OF CITIZENS AND
OTHERS FROM THE RUNNING OF TRAINS THRU THE CITY'OF RICHMOND,. INDIAN.A,
AND PRESCRIBING PENALTIES FOR ITS VIOLATION.
BE IT,- ORDAINED, BY THE C OMAON .COUNCIL, .OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND
INDIANA: '
SEETIONl. That for the purpose•of proTiding for the security of
citizens and others from the running -of trains -thru the City of
Richmond, Indiana, all railroad companies whose track or tracks cross
or intersect Northwest Fifth Street,: -in the' City of Richmond, Indiana,
shall at -such -crossing or intersection keep and maintain at all times
in good working order" and'at'`their. own expense and at all times of the
day or night while any. locomotive. engine, • car,. -or. train of cars -are
being run or about -or liable to be' run over .or across, or•. any locomotive
engine, car or;.train of.cars is standing on said crossing or intersection
a reliable and • substanti'al standard: flasher light- signal system including
gates of approved -type subject ---to,` the -rules.`and ;regulations of the State
Highway Commission of the State of Indiana and ,,operated electrically
as trains approach said crossing and intersection so as to signal persons
approaching or about to crpss•such tracks at.said.cr.ossing,or intersection
and warn them of the approach of any locomot iTe' engine, car or train of
cars or other impending danger, ,in, connection with the running of trains
thereat.
SECTION 2. Any such railroad.company.who shall on or after the
l day of•. 19410 by itself, its agents,or employees, violate
or fail to observe any of the foregoing provisions"of this ordinance,
shall upon" conviction thereof: -be-fined in -any,-- sum -not exceeding 0100.00.
Each and -every day that such offense is continued shall -be deemed and held
to be •a "seperate offense.
SECTION .3. This ordinance. shall, be in• full -force' and effect from and
'after its passage, approval of the Mayor, 'arid publication as by law pro-
vided.
