HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrdinance 0794+ ~ .~ CHAPTER 1 ARTICLE 3 ELECTIONS SECTION 3-1: ORDINANCE SETTING REGULAR MUNICXPAL ELECTION APRIL 1~, 1975 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PRESIDENT AND BOARD OF TRU5TEES OF THE VIL- LAGE OF PLATNFIELD A5 FOLLOWS: Section 3w1-1: April 15, 197'5: That there shall be a regular election of officers of the Village of Piain- field, Will County, Illinois, on the 1Sth day of April, 1975. Section 3-1-2: Three Trustees Elected; Publish Sam le Ballot: At such a ect~on there shall be a ected three 3) Trustees, each of whom is to serve a four (4) year term. The ballot to be used in such election shall be in the form prescribed by statute; and it shall be the duty of the Village Clerk to assure the preparation of a sufficient number of ballots for the election, to cause a sample of such ballot to be published prior to the day of the election in The Enterprise, a newspaper published in and having general circulation within the Village and to provide the necessary election supplies for the voting precinct. Section 3-1-3: One Precinct; Polling Place: For the purpose of said election, there shall be one precinct and polling place, to-wit: Village Hall, 52 Lockport Street, Plainfield, Illinois. Section 3-1-4: Five Judges Appointed: There shall be five (5) judges appointed for the election precinct. Section 3--1-5: Judges' Compensation: Each judge shall be compensated by the Village for his or her services at said election at the rate of Thirty and No/l00 Dol- lars ($30.00) . Section 3--1-6: Village Clerk to Publish Notice of Elec- tion: The Village Clerk shall publish a notice of elec- t of n pursuant to statute which shall include a description of the election precinct and the location of the polling place in The Enterprise. • Section 3-1-7: Fo11s Open 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 .m.: The polls at said election will be opened at 6 o'clock a.m. and will be closed at 6 o'clock p.m. on the date of the election; only qualified and registered voters shall be permitted to vote. Section 3--1-8: Judges Appointed: That the fallowing named ,persons,. each of whom is a citizen of the United States and is entitled to vote at the next election; is of good repute and character; is able to speak, read and write the English language; is skilled in the four fun- damental rules of arithmetic; is of good understanding and is capable; is not a candidate for office at this election and is .not an elected Committeeman; and who resides in the precinct in which he or she is selected to act, are hereby appointed judges of election for the general election April 15, 1975, in the precinct shown as follows: Precinct Name Address 1 Freda Bartz 413 Newkirk Drive L Lucille Harris 60~ Fox River Street 1 Marcella Brownson 707 Ottawa Street 1 Vera Krnac 9 Chicago Street 1 Carol Russell 3 Plaza Drive Section 3-1--9: Clerk Authorized to Appoint Substitute Judges: In the event that any of the judges of election appointed in this Ordinance are unable or unwilling to serve on election day, the Village Clerk is .hereby autho- rized to appoint substitute judges of election who meet the same qualifications as set forth in the section next preceding this. Section 3-1-10: Canduct of Election; The election shall be held and conducted and the returns thereof duly can- vassed, all in the manner and time as provided by law.
