CLOSED SESSION MINUTES
HILLSBOROUGH TOWN BOARD
May 23, 2002
7:00 PM, Town Barn
The Hillsborough Town Board held a Closed Session on May 23, 2002 in the Hillsborough
Town Barn. Present for the Budget Work Session were Mayor Joe Phelps and Commissioners
Frances Dancy, Evelyn Lloyd, Mark Sheridan, and Mike Gering. Absent was Commissioner
Kenneth Chavious. Staff present were Town. Manager Eric Peterson, Town Clerk Donna
Armbrister, Finance Director Sherry Carter, and Public Works Director/Assistant Town Manager
Demetrlc Potts.
Mayor Joe Phelps called the Closed Session to order at approximately 9: 15 PM.
The Mayor stated the purpose of this Closed Session is to discuss the purchase of the Scott
property. He noted that the Board members have viewed the property and asked for their
oplmon.
By consensus, the Board agreed that the house is not conducive for office space.
Commissioner Sheridan informed the Board that in his discussions with the property owners,
they expressed an interest in selling part of the land to the Town. After some discussion, and by
consensus, the Board directed the Manager to approach the family regarding the purchase of 110
feet of the back property.
Town Manager Eric Peterson stated he would prepare a letter to the family indicating the Boards
interest.
Upon a motion by Commissioner Dancy, seconded by Commissioner Lloyd, the Board moved to
return to Open Session by a vote of 4-0. The motion was declared passed.
