PROFESSIONAL SERVICE CONTRACT FOR
ENGINEERING SERVICES
WHEREAS, there exists a need tbr professional services for the preparation of plans
and specifications for the sewer system improvements and related activities in the
storm basin and for the surface course paving of the area behind the Sports Recreation
Center; and
WHEREAS, engineering services are a a professional service exempt from the
requirement of public bidding pursuant to N.J.S.A 40A: 11-5 (1) (a); and
WHEREAS, the Local Finance Officer has certified that funds are available.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret does hereby approve the appointment of Killam Associates at
a maximum cost not to exceed $3,500.00 billable as per attached rate schedule.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor and Borough Clerk are hereby
authorized to execute said contract.
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that the contract is awarded without competitive
bids in accordance with NJ.SA. 40A:11-5 (1) (a) due to the specialized and
professional nature of the services provided.
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that a notice of this action shall be published in the
Home News Tribune on April 8,1999.

and certified as a true copy of the original
