HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-28-2012THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, JUNE 28, 2012 The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met at 5:00 P.M., Thursday, June 28, 2012, in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 50 North 5th Street, Richmond, Indiana. In attendance were Board Members Vicki Robinson and Dian Lawson. Also attending were Assistant City Attorney Kim Vessels, Assistant Fire Chief Jared Rudy and City Controller Tammy Glenn. The following business was conducted: CALL TO ORDER Ms. Robinson called the meeting to order and noted for the minutes that two board members and legal counsel were present. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Ms. Robinson made a request to the board to approve the minutes for the June 21, 2012 meeting. Ms. Lawson moved to approve with a second by Ms. Robinson. The motion was unanimously passed. CLAIMS FOR PAYMENT Ms. Robinson made a request to the board to approve the claims for payment for June 29, 2012 in the amount of $1,244,671.45. Included in that total are as follows: • $57,436.09 = Harvest Land for fuel • $15,046.15 = MGI Traffic Control for traffic sign supplies • $173,023.22 = Milestone for Midwest Industrial Park Project • $853,069.35 = Abstract of Richmond for the purchase of 1400 & 1500 Industries Road Ms. Lawson moved to approve with a second by Ms. Robinson. The motion was unanimously passed. CONTRACTS A. Contract No. 82 -2012 with Vectren Energy Delivery for pipeline reimbursement not to exceed $36,859.00 to be paid from TIF monies from the Midwest Project funds. Ms. Lawson moved to approve with a second by Ms. Robinson. The motion was unanimously passed. Board of Works Minutes June 18, 2012 Page 2 of 2 BID AWARDS A. Assistant Fire Chief Jared Rudy submitted a bid award for a new fire truck for the Richmond Fire Department to KME Kovatch not to exceed $982.085.00. Ms. Lawson moved to award with a second by Ms. Robinson. The motion was unanimously passed. FINANCING A. City Controller Tammy Glenn submitted to the board a request to approve the financing for the remaining balance of the new fire truck that is not covered by the Assistance to Firefighter's Grant to Chase Equipment Finance at an interest rate of 1.83 %. The remaining funding is $307,085.00 and will be financed over 2012 -2015 evenly, with the annual payments being $79,413.28 with the total cost of the financing of $10,568.12. Ms. Lawson moved to approve with a second by Ms. Robinson. The motion was unanimously passed. ANNOUNCEMENT Ms. Robinson announced that the Fire Department issued an order banning open burning due to continued dry conditions. A ban on open burning has been issued to all residents and property owners located in the following areas: Wayne County which is the City of Richmond, Wayne Township, Spring Grove and all areas that are served by the Richmond Fire Department. The ban on open burning will stay in effect until sufficient rain fall is received to adequately relieve the hazardous condition. The ban will be reviewed weekly. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, on a motion duly made, seconded and passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned.
