Norton Day�,ocen�tvaTf ua • � 9a O O O i 5 0., z 'a N NCE CoNv`t PROCLAMATION WHEREAS: The quality of life in a community is enhanced by the commitment and willingness of an employee to give of his or her time and talents during employment; and, WHEREAS: Karen V. Norton began her career path with a diverse background in bookkeeping experience and payroll responsibilities for the Walther E. Fernald State School in Waltham and retail stores in Watertown; and, WHEREAS: Ms. Norton's tenure with the Town of Watertown includes being appointed by Town Manager Rodney H. Irwin on August 1, 1988 as a Principal Clerk & Typist in the Office of the Treasurer/Collector. Ms. Norton was quickly recommended by Town Treasurer/Collector of Taxes Michael J. Driscoll, to be promoted and appointed to Principal Account Clerk on December 21, 1989; and, WHEREAS: On November 4, 2013, Ms. Norton was promoted and appointed by Town Manager Michael J. Driscoll to the position of Assistant Treasurer/Collector. Karen is admired by all she meets for her professional manner, dedication and extraordinary efforts in the discharge of her duties with other Town Departments and as a representative to the various banking and financial institutions; and; WHEREAS: Karen is devoted to her beloved family and is respected for the care she gives to them and her community as a proud -lifelong Watertown resident; and, WHEREAS: Karen is an active member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, serving as past Hospitality Room Manager at National Conferences catering to over 200 members at a time; and served as past Exalted Ruler and District Deputy of the BPOE, honorable members are also known as the "Best People on Earth;" and; WHEREAS: Karen enjoys reading in her leisure time, travelling the country - especially enjoying her annual trip to Florida - and spending quality time with friends; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: That the Town Council of the City known as the Town of Watertown does hereby express its profound gratitude and appreciation to Karen V. Norton for her many years of service and dedication to the citizens of Watertown and wishes her continued health and happiness upon her retirement and hereby proclaim: SEPTEMBER 20, 2017 KAREN V. NORTON DAY IN WITNESS WHEREOF, we have Hereunto set our hand and caused the Great Seal of the Town of Watertown To be affixed on this 20th day of September 2017 ff. ".Ul Y Mark S.
