RESOLUTION NO. 22-9955
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, APPOINTING JAMES
WRIGHT AS THE INTERIM CITY MANAGER; PROVIDING
FOR INCORPORATION OF RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, at a Special Meeting held on January 14, 2022, the City
Commission voted to terminate John E. Pate as the City Manager of the City of Opa-
Locka with an effective date of 12:00 AM on February 1, 2022; and
WHEREAS, the City of Opa-Locka is in need of an Interim City Manager who
is capable of performing the duties and responsibilities of City Manager as set forth
in the City of Opa-Locka's Code of Ordinances and applicable law; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to appoint James Wright as Interim City
Manager to serve for a term not to exceed nine (9) months starting 12:01 AM on
February 1, 2022; and
WHEREAS, the City further desires to appoint James Wright to a position of
Deputy City Manager, to serve from the date of appointment on January 14, 2021
and up until February 1, 2022 at 12:00 AM; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to conduct a national search for a permanent
City Manager within nine (9) months from the effective date of appointment, for
which the Interim City Manager shall not be excluded from making application for
consideration; and
WHEREAS, the salary and benefits for the Interim City Manager shall be
later determined at a regular city commission meeting within thirty (30) days from
the effective date of appointment of James Wright to a position as Deputy City
Manager.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA:

Section 2. Appointment of Interim City Manager. The City Commission
hereby appoints James Wright as the Interim City Manager for the City of Opa-
Locka, effective 12:01 AM on February 1, 2022 and further appoints James Wright as
Deputy City Manager from the date of appointment to 12:00 AM on February 1,
2022.
Section 3. Scrivener's Errors. Sections of this Resolution may be
renumbered or re -lettered and corrections of typographical errors which do not
affect the intent may be authorized by the City Attorney or designee, without need
of public hearing by filing a corrected copy of the same with the City Clerk.
Section 4. Effective Date. This Resolution shall be effective immediately.
