RESOLUTION NO. 22-9956
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF OPA-LOCKA, FLORIDA, AMENDING
RESOLUTION NO. 22-9955 RELATING TO THE
APPOINTMENT OF JAMES WRIGHT AS THE INTERIM
CITY MANAGER; PROVIDING FOR INCORPORATION OF
RECITALS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, at a Special Meeting held on January 14, 2022, the City
Commission of the City of Opa-Locka ("City Commission") voted to terminate John
E. Pate as the City Manager with an effective date of 12:00 AM on February 1, 2022;
and
WHEREAS, on January 14, 2022, the City Commission also appointed James
Wright as Interim City Manager to serve for a term not to exceed nine (9) months
starting 12:01 AM on February 1, 2022, and requiring a national search for
appointment of a permanent City Manager; and
WHEREAS, on January 14, 2022, the City Commission further appointed
James Wright to the position of Deputy City Manager, to serve from the date of
appointment on January 14, 2022 and up until February 1, 2022 at 12:00 AM; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to amend Resolution No. 22-9955 to
employ James Wright, clarify the title of appointment of James Wright as "Acting
City Manager" (rather than Deputy City Manager), consistent with Section 3.4 of the
City of Opa-Locka's Charter; and
WHEREAS, the salary and benefits of employment for the position of Acting
City Manager and Interim City Manager shall be later determined at a regular city
commission meeting within thirty (30) days from the effective date of this
Resolution; and
WHEREAS, James Wright shall have powers of an Acting City Manager for a
temporary time period, including the power to approve purchase orders, pursuant
to existing financial policies and procedures of the City of Opa-Locka.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA, FLORIDA:

Section 2. Appointment of Interim City Manager. The City Commission
hereby confirms the appointment of James Wright as the Interim City Manager for
the City of Opa-Locka, effective 12:01 AM on February 1, 2022; and further appoints
James Wright as Acting City Manager from the date of this resolution and up to
12:00 AM on February 1, 2022.
Section 3. Scrivener's Errors. Sections of this Resolution may be
renumbered or re -lettered and corrections of typographical errors which do not
affect the intent may be authorized by the City Attorney or designee, without need
of public hearing by filing a corrected copy of the same with the City Clerk.
Section 4. Effective Date. This Resolution shall be effective immediately.
