COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
SPECIAL MEETING - JUNE 2, 2015
The Special Meeting of the Bal Harbour Village Council was held on June 2, 2015, at the
Bal Harbour Village Hall Council Chambers (655 — 96th Street, Bal Harbour, Florida).
CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order at 7:06 p.m. by Mayor
Packer. The following were present:

Jorge M. Gonzalez, Village Manager

Richard Weiss, Village Attorney
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by John Mezzone, Bal
Harbour resident.

R7 — RESOLUTIONS
R7A Report and Decision Regarding Village Clerk Recruitment Process
Mayor Packer introduced the item, and explained that discussions with the previously selected
candidate were not successful.
Mayor Packer stated that he felt that a Special Council Meeting was necessary, as the Village
needs a permanent Village Clerk. He stated he called the #2 candidate (Dwight Danie) to see if
he was still interested in the position, to which he said he was.
Mr. Gonzalez explained that in the meeting packet there are two (2) resolutions: (1) a resolution
selecting a Village Clerk and (2) a resolution engaging Colin Baezinger, a recruiter, for a
recruitment process for a Village Clerk.
Mayor Packer stated that a recruitment process would take at least another two (2) months, and
that it was time for a new permanent Clerk.
Assistant Mayor Cohen agreed with Mayor Packer, and stated she was very impressed by Mr.
Danie.

The following Resolution Title was read by Ms. Mejia:
A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE COUNCIL OF BAL HARBOUR
VILLAGE, FLORIDA; APPOINTING A NEW VILLAGE CLERK;
AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO NEGOTIATE AN EMPLOYMENT
AGREEMENT WITH THE APPOINTED CLERK; DIRECTING THE
MANAGER TO CONDUCT A BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION OF THE
APPOINTED CLERK; PROVIDING FOR IMPLEMENTATION; PROVIDNG
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
A motion was offered by Mayor Packer and seconded by Assistant Mavor Cohen to
approve the resolution and select Mr. Dwight Danie as Village Clerk. The motion carried
(5-0).
ADJOURN There being no further business, a motion was offered b Ma or Packer and
seconded by Councilman Salver to adjourn. The motion carried (5-0); thus, the meeting
was adjourned at 7:15p.m.
