HomeMy Public PortalAbout20190403 - Upper Charles Trail Committee - Meeting Minutes1 UPPER CHARLES TRAIL COMMITTEE Wednesday April 3, 2019 7:05 PM Basement Meeting Room, Town Hall, 18 Main St., Hopkinton, MA MINUTES Members present: Bob Snyder, Jane Moran, Ken Parker, Eric Sonnett, Barry Rosenbloom, Eli Post, Jim Ciriello Members absent: John Coutinho, Dave Rolinski, Kelly Karp Trail warden present: Mike Boelsen 1. Review “Hopkinton 101” event: Event took place at the library from 10A to 2P on March 30, 2019. Jane anchored the HUCTC table throughout the day. Over 200 attended to gather and share information about various town organizations. Jane gave an overall HUCTC presentation. Mike mentioned the widespread interest in town trail maps that were distributed by the Hopkinton Trails Club, HALT, and HUCTC. In summary, a successful town event. 2. VHB update: Jane reported that Roy MacDowell assured Jane and Eric that he would do his best to rally a UCT trail plan through Legacy Farms North. VHB is awaiting an agreement between themselves, MacDowell, and the Kinder Morgan group in order to proceed with their relevant feasibility study. Barry updated members on unspent but authorized funds for feasibility studies 4-5-6, 8-9, and 10-11. 3. Liaison reports:  Planning Board – The recently approved Solar Farm off Wilson Street has agreed to permit the UCT to pass through its property. This is of limited benefit to HUCTC at this time because there is no way to proceed east from the farm.  Trails Coordination and Management Committee – The appointees, so far, to this committee are Ken Parker, Peter LaGoy, Chuck Dauchy, Dan Terry (Parks+Rec), Jim Ciriello (Conservation Commission), David Paul, and Jamie Wronka. 4. Friends of HUCTC discussion: Eli spoke on behalf of this idea. He mentioned the successes that these groups have had in Ashland and Sudbury. Eric noted the previous attempt by us that stumbled on the formation of the 501C3 entity. He suggested that Eli speak to the Hopkinton Chamber of Commerce about the idea. Mike spoke about the Holliston Friends of UCT organization and the presentation by Robert Weidknecht that he attended. 5. Draft minutes of the 3/6/19 meeting: Approved unanimously. 6. Agenda topics for next meeting (5/1/19):  Liaison reports  VHB update  Project budgeting  Treasurer’s Report  Trails Coordination and Management Committee  Eli will update on the Mass Recreational Trails Advisory Board  0 Hayden Rowe Street development 7.
