IDLLSBOROUGH TOWN BOARD
December 2, 2002
7:30 PM, Town Barn
The Hillsborough Town Board met in Closed Session on December 2, 2002 at 7:30 PM in the
Hillsborough Town Barn for the purpose of discussing a legal matter pertaining to collection of
delinquent Food and Beverage Tax Payments. Present for the Closed Session were Mayor Joe
Phelps, and Commissioners Frances Dancy, Evelyn Lloyd, Kenneth Chavious and Michael
Gering. Absent was Commissioner Mark Sheridan. Staff present were Town Manager Eric
Peterson, Town Clerk Donna Armbrister, Finance Director Sherry Carter, Assistant Town
ManagerlPublic Works Director Demetric Potts, Police Chief Nathaniel Eubanks, and Town
Attorney Bob Hornik.
9, CLOSED SESSION
A. To discuss a legal matter pertaining to collection of delinquent Food and Beverage
Tax Payments
Finance Director Sherry Carter informed the Board that she has heard from Mr. Roberts
with the Inn at Teardrops. He has asked to be removed from the Town's list of caterers, and is
still refusing to pay the Food and Beverage Tax Payments.
After some discussion, and by consensus, the Board authorized the Town Attorney to send
Mr. Roberts a letter notifying him of the Inn at Teardrops removal from the caterer list and to
inform him that the Town is willing to reduce the outstanding fees in half.
Upon a motion by Commissioner Chavious, seconded by Commissioner Lloyd, the Board
moved to return to Open Session by a vote of 4-0. The motion was declared passed.
