Warm Wt" 6irue4i"s }r&iw +kz SuAZo C +-tt"'
Although it is cold outside, our community is warm at the Senior Center and we invite you to stop in and take part
in one of our many programs or classes. The Whist group is seeking new card players. They meet on
Wednesdays at 12:30. We are also teaching a group how to play Canasta on Wednesdays at 1:30. If you would
like to learn, or if you have played in the past, we welcome your participation.
AARP tax preparers will be here this month through April to help residents with their 2017 taxes. Call to
schedule your appointment today. Two of the most popular programs, Travels with Tom Lewis, and Flowers with
Ernie, will return this month.
Looking ahead, we are excited to be offering a Senior CharlieCard Day at the Senior Center on March 27,
sponsored by the Office of State Senator Will Brownsberger. We are also partnering with the Belmont
Council on Aging who will host an Honoring Choices workshop in April, where participants will
complete their own Health Care Proxy and then learn how to help others do so too.
Happy Valentine's Day! You make our hearts happy!

Can I Still Change
My Medicare Plan?
THE
SHINE
PROGRAM
The annual Medicare Open
Serving the Health
Enrollment period ended on
Insurance Needs
of Everyone
December 7, but you may still
be able to change plans during
2018.
Medicare's 5-Star Special Enrollment Period
You have an opportunity to enroll in a top -rated
(5-Star) plan, once during the year. This can be
done at any time through November 30, with the
enrollment effective the first of the following
month. The two Blue Medicare Rx Part D drug
plans, and the Tufts Medicare Preferred HMO
plans have achieved the 5-Star rating for 2018.
You can enroll in one of these plans, as long as
you meet the plan's eligibility requirements. If
you are currently in a Medicare Advantage or
Medicare Prescription Drug Plan, this new
enrollment will automatically disenroll you from
your previous plan.
For those with a Medicare Advantage Plan
(HMO or PPO):
Between January 1 & February 14 each year,
anyone with a Medicare Advantage plan may
drop it and switch to Original Medicare. If you
drop your Medicare Advantage plan during this
period, you can join a Medicare Prescription
Drug Plan to add drug coverage. Your Original
Medicare coverage and your prescription drug
coverage will begin the first day of the month
after your enrollment. You may also add a
supplement (Medigap) at this time.
For those with Prescription Advantage or
getting "Extra Help" paving for prescription
drugs:
You can change your Medicare Advantage plan
or drug plan anytime during the year. Those
with Prescription Advantage can do this only
once each year. Those with "Extra Help" can
change every month. Trained SHINE (Serving
Health Insurance Needs of Everyone ... on
Medicare) volunteers can help you! They offer
free, confidential counseling on all aspects of
health insurance to anyone on Medicare. To
schedule a SHINE appointment, call the Senior
Center at 617-972-6490.

THE SENIOR CENTER BOOK CLUB
WHEN: Wednesday, February 21 at
9:30. WHERE: Senior Center, 31
Marshall St. Join us to discuss The
Princess Bride by William Goldman.
Copies of the book are available at the
Watertown Free Public Library.
William Goldman's modern fantasy
classic is a simple, exceptional
story about quests —for riches,
revenge, power, and, of course,° t
true love —that's thrilling and
timeless. Anyone who lived "+'a
through the 1980s may find it
impossible —inconceivable, even —to equate
The Princess Bride with anything other than
the sweet, celluloid romance of Westley and
Buttercup, but the film is only a fraction of
the ingenious storytelling you'll find in these
pages. Rich in character and satire, the
novel is set in 1941 and framed cleverly as
an "abridged" retelling of a centuries -old
tale set in the fabled country of Florin that's
home to "Beasts of all natures and
descriptions. Pain. Death. Brave men.
Coward men. Escapes. Lies. Truths.
SENIOR CENTER SNOW POLICY
• If Watertown public schools are
w • • cancelled for inclement weather, all Senior
Center programs, and shopping bus runs,
are cancelled. If school opening is delayed, the
morning shopping bus run is cancelled, and Senior
Center programs maybe cancelled at the instructor's
discretion, so call before coming over: (617) 972-6490.
Staff members will be available during regular business
hours. School cancellation information is broadcast on
local cable, radio and network TV.
Remember, safety is your first priority. Use your own
good judgment to decide if you should go out in bad
weather.
