HomeMy Public PortalAbout01-03-1989 - Special Meeting 69 PROCEEDINGS OF A SPECIAL MEETING OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND. INDIANA. JANUARY 3. 1989 1 The Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana met in special session January 3, 1989 at the hour of 2 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers in said City. President Morris presided with the following Councilmembers 3 present: Elstro, Lundy, Brookbank, Hankinson, McBride, Parker, Hutton, and Paust. Absent: None. The 4 following business was had to-wit: 5 6 COMMENTS BY PRESIDENT 7 8 President Morris told the Councilmembers she had appreciated their diligence this year and it had been an 9 especially difficult year with the loss of Councilmember Marion Williams, but also a new year with 10 Councilmember Lundy being a breath of fresh air. 11 12 She said the Council had worked hard this year on evaluation of the Park Bond issue with Councilmember 13 Williams heading up the cooperative effort. She encouraged the Council to work as one unit and as a body to 14 decide priorities. 15 16 ELECTION OF OFFICERS FOR 1989 17 18 President Morris announced that nominations would be accepted for the Offices of President and President 19 Pro-tem of the Common Council for 1989. 20 21 Councilmember McBride placed the name of Councilmember Hutton in nomination for President of the 22 Common Council. The nomination was seconded by Councilmember Elstro. 23 24 Councilmember McBride moved to close the nominations, seconded by Councilmember Hankinson and on 25 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 26 27 Councilmember Hutton was elected as President of the Common Council by acclamation of the 28 Councilmembers. 29 30 Councilmember Hutton placed the name of Councilmember Brookbank in nomination for President Pro-tern of 31 the Common Council. The nomination was seconded by Councilmember Elstro. 32 33 Councilmember McBride moved that the nominations be closed,seconded by Councilmember Hutton and on 34 unanimous voice vote the motion was carried. 35 36 Councilmember Brookbank was elected as President Pro-tem of the Common Council by acclamation of the 37 Council. 38 39 ADJOURNMENT 40 41 There being no further business,on a motion duly made,seconded and passed,the meeting was adjourned. 42 43 44 45 46 47 48 49 Lynn Nepote Morris,President 50 51 52 ATTEST: 53 Mary Merchanthouse,City Clerk 54 55 56 57 58 59 60 61 62 63 64 65 170 1
