Hughes On June 5, 2006 I assisted Jonathan Brown when he came to City Hall to apply for a Building Permit for the repair of decking at 1812 Butler Avenue. Jon Brown and I discussed the project. As I was entering the information into the computer to issue the permit, Deputy City Marshal Warren "Hodad" Millikan said to Jon Brown, "Do you want to say something? I saw you staring at me. I thought maybe you wanted to say something." Jon Brown then made a call on his cell phone and asked for an officer to meet him at City Hall so he could make a report. Allen Subject: subpoenas It is my understanding that those of you & possibly others who had been subpoenaed for a hearing tomorrow by attorney Navare are released from the subpoenas. He gave me an explanation about a change of a procedural nature, but confirmed that the hearing is off. Vivian, I had already confirmed that you personally would not need to be present with a time card & that someone else could bring a certified copy. Now that no one is having to appear, you may want to just give it to me so that I can provide it to the court & the DA. I have been trading calls & messages with Carolyn Shavette the assistant DA about all this all week & except for voice mails have been unable to speak with her. Navare tells me he left a message on Bob Bryson's voice mail & asked that he notify any other officers that were subpoenaed also. He also said he had left word to that effect with Angie. I will keep trying to speak to Carolyn about what is being changed procedurally, but for the time being the subpoenas are released. However, if anyone was subpoenaed on behalf of the state, please contact me as I think only Carolyn or someone in her office can release her subpoenas. Hodad, you may want to check with Ms Beasley with Victim/Witness assistance if you have not already & maybe they can bring you up to date.
