While the avowed ambi- tion of the captain (Strother Martin) is for each prisoner to "get their mind right," it soon becomes obvi- ous that Luke is not about to kow- tow to anybody. When challenged to a fistfight by fellow inmate Drag - line (George Kennedy), Luke simp- ly refuses to give up, even though he's brutally beat- en. ENERGYAND BALANCE WITH TAI CHI The Winter Session is underway but there's still time to join in! Anyone, regardless of ,4 age or physical ability, can practice Tai Chi. Older adults find it espe- cially appealing because the movements are low impact and put minimal stress on muscles and joints. Although Tai Chi's best documented health effect is its ability to improve balance, it can also reduce stress, increase flexibility, improve strength and increase energy. LOW INCOME FUEL ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (LIHEAP) The Low -Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a Federal Program that operates between November 1st and April 30th to provide home heating assistance to residents who are at or below 60% of the state median income level. Eligibility is based on household size and the gross annual income of every house- hold member, 18 years of age or older. Household income cannot exceed 60% of estimated State Median Income (see 2013/14 chart below.) Household of one- $32,065 Household of two - $41,932 Household of three - $51,797 Household of four - $61,664 Watertown seniors (first-time applicants) may apply at the Senior Center by call- ing 617-972-6490 to make an appoint- ment. J The 2013 Medicare Open Enrollment period ended on December 7, but some people may still ^� be allowed to change plans. For those with a Medicare Advantage Plan:^� Between January I and February 14, you can leave your plan and switch to Original Medicare, but you cannot -i J switch to another Medicare Advantage Plan. If you drop your Medicare Advantage plan during this period, you J ^will be able to join a Medicare Prescription Drug Plan to add drug coverage. Your Original Medicare coverage >' ^� and your prescription drug coverage will begin the first day of the month after your enrollment. You may also , add a supplement (Medigap) at this time. For those with Prescription Advantage or getting "Extra Help" paying for prescription drugs: 7 You can change your plan anytime during the year. Those with Prescription Advantage can do this only once j -each year. The Watertown Senior Shuttle travels a route around Watertown to take seniors grocery shopping, and we continually adjust the route to accommodate new riders. The bus goes to the Stop & Shop on Watertown St. on Tuesdays, and the Super Stop and Shop on Pleasant St. on Fridays. If Watertown public schools are cafrce/%d, Senior Center programs, including the Shopping bus, are cancelled. If public school opening is delayed, the morning shopping bus run is cancelled, and Senior Center programs be cancelled at the instructor's discretion, so call before coming over.
